Yeah, I have the same issue that it doesn't capture the localizer. I had the problem in Clevland, Mexico City and Sarajevo.

I'll try to record again to see if it's improved, it's released and received some updates since this video. However I still think this aircraft needs a lot more work to justify the asking price.

@@TheSimPilot I have flown recently, and it is not improved. Can't get it to capture and follow the ILS. The other thing that is mediocre is the EFB. However, it is not bad, but I agree that it's not worth the price, especially if you compare it to the 777.

Not sure Salty mod is not progressing well for the past year and I started using the default 747 after it was updated by working title. In my opinion the default 747 is superior to salty until PMDG releases their 747. Maybe give the default one another try.

If you use APP mode in the approach then doesn’t it just nullify the whole point of setting up VOR/DME? Like if I have to fly a VORDME isn’t it because the ILS is out of service? It’s more complicated to fly the VORDME so why choose it over ILS?

Actually when VOR/DME is the selected approach using APP mode will only use the localizer to align with the runway. Vertical movement is still at pilots control. This makes it easier for the pilot to let the aircraft control the direction. Not sure how real world pilots use VOR/DME but I find it useful. Regarding the question about ILS over VOR/DME yes it's preferred but there are some airports that does not have ILS on some runways.

You certainly know your stuff.p I have a question because i'm a die hard realism authenicism fan i like to make things as real (hard) as i can even though i'm not that good. But i have an issue. when i do this i get oil warnings and sometimes other warnings that something is not right... how do i overcome these issues? i know there is a services section within the fmc, but is that enough............The other day i tried flying with this problem only to lose both engines over the ocean and logically enough lost the aircraft as i was not able to glide to safety...... knew there was something wrong when the aircrft could not maintain level flight almost on full power and also that the aileiron trim was not keeping the aircraft level...it was as if there was too much input from the smallest movement possible.. this was befoe i saw he engine fail readout in the mfd

Thanks for the compliment. I haven't practiced the failures yet but what I can recommend is to start with the non-normal procedures and checklists for the 737. I am pretty sure there will be some interesting information in there. I believe you can google it and can find a bunch of information. Non-Normal procedures and failures are what pilots use in real life when things go south.

Hello, the dial a flap selector after Take/Off is set to 15- not to 10 degrees- for my company at least- I have never heard, airlines using Flaps 10- where did you hear/ read this? In your Video at 17:45 during the approach, the PFD speed band will show you a green "F15" speed-marker, below that, it is time/safe to select Flaps to 15. Thanks for the video!

5:24 I might be wrong, but I think I usually enter the name & course. I.e. IMSP/301 instead of frequency & course 110.3/301. That aside, does it not fill in the details automatically as soon as it’s within a certain distance of the airport?

Please DON'T use the AFS OVRD paddles to disengage the autoflight system. That is the emergency override only. This also kills flight envelope protections and RCWS. :( Use the buttons on the yoke/throttles to disconnect.

Just tried it, select departure and arrival icao, then choose your departure and arrival runway, if you click on the cloud icon on the runways you see the wind for the runways In the route box enter your waypoints in capital letters, VOR,NDB, OR FIX WITH A SPACE BETWEEN THEM and generate flight That's it Hope this helps

It’s not the best ATC option. Sayintentions is way more advanced and a better product than anything out there. I have them all Pilot2Atc, ProATC, and BeyondATC. BeyondATC has no real AI and has scripted responses. It doesn’t understand many requests you ask it. Your info is wrong the #1 ATC software is SayIntentions and it’s not even close. Sayintentions is expensive but can do things BATC can’t. Sayintentions has Navigraph implementation, you can talk to it in 14 languages and VFR support. BeyondAtC with no VFR and no Navigraph is a huge disappointment.

I don't think I have said this is number 1 not sure where you get that from. All I said is this has the potential to become a good ATC solution. Plus not everyone wants to pay $24.50/ month especially when it's hard to justify the cost of one van only fly once a week. Anyways what works for one is a subjective opinion and for what I do Beyond ATC is enough.
