Retirement is now more difficult than it was in the past. I've been saving for a long time instead of investing, and right now I only have about $400K. considering all the inflation, i'm thinking of investing in stocks, i dont just have idea on market strategies.

At a point like this, when the pressure is already on you to retire, its best recommended you seek the services of an adviser, as this allows you make smarter investing decisions.

Hello Well Built Health. Will this 0.6% loss going to affect people who collect CCP DISABILITY ? Does the disability protect them from the 0.6% loss ?

Expectations for Retirement Life are .. 99% exaggerated by Financial 'people' pushing for Their Own advantages. Reality is that once Retired .. unless Soo unfortunate as to enter retirement with Debt loads... One needs FAR less income/ coin to live great lives ... than when one was 'Saving' for retirement.

My mum became residence of Canada in 2014. She stayed in China from Nov 2018 to December 2019 to take care of my grandparents. It is now 2024, does she qualify for OAS? Or does she need to wait 13 months to apply for OAS? - Thank you!

Why can't we pensioners get a $500.00 visa card to spend every month and the Government pay for it. It is true that refuges get a visa card that they could spend $500.00 which is paid by this Government? Is there a truth about that.

I’ve been a Royal Bank customer for 40 years and have just recently moved most of my/our deposits and investments elsewhere. Daily banking is now being done at a credit union. We just walked in the other day and bought a GIC. No appointment. Wow. You have to wait days just to open an account at a chartered bank. The bank made many times more than I ever did on my deposits over the years. I’m done and wish I had the common sense to get out sooner.

Love your videos. Would like to see an example of regular salaries under 100k with minimum TFSA around 50k with only 150k in RRSP. Most people won’t qualify for maximum CPP

Delaying CPP from 60 to 70 is the equivalent of an 8.2% return for those 10 years. Combined with drawing down RRSP in your earlier years (where you are more likely to enjoy your money), CPP helps manage longevity risk while allowing you to live your life earlier in retirement. If you have an history of early death in your family or have no saving, then taking CPP at 60 could make sense, otherwise it really does not help your overall retirement to do so.

Can you do a scenario A couple drawing on CPP OAS and GIS already at 60 years old because of losing jobs needing cash flow and were not big income earners. Now retired. No other pensions. Some Rrsps, tsfa, non reg, No other debts. Own home. Best tax withdrawals strategies.

Retired at 62 but waited till 65 to collect CPP. Since I paid in the max for 42 years, I figured I would get the max at 65 of 1364.60 but for some reason I was told I will get 22 dollars less then max. Did not paying in to CPP between 62 to 65 affect my number.

This week the personal "advisor" at our bank told us that you couldn't open a RRIF before you turn 71. And that you couldn't open a RRIF without having an RRSP first.

just discovered your videos last few days. i like them. you're doing a good job. re the Andex Chart. would like to see those returns inflation adjusted for the 60's-80's they will look wildly different. stocks, bonds didn't bottom until 1982 on an inflation adjusted basis. important to look at alternative investments during this period. commodities/gold, oil, etc even real estate did better than stocks/bonds.
