I see you were using the original WPL card. I wasn't happy about it either, then I bought the WPL RES-V3 card, a more advanced card that also allows you to control the lights, many lights. With that everything went smoothly and the scan control is very good, nice slow. Maybe you've never tried it, I recommend it. This way you avoid swapping the brains of the poor SCX24.

Great video! I'm considering doing all of these upgrades. I would like to buy that Dumbo esc since it seems to fit well. Just curious what remote you are using. Also considering buying a nice receiver like a flysky. Would that be able to pair? Sorry for all of the questions. I'm new to this

I am happy to answer all questions I can! The dumborc receivers is great but it can only pair to a dumborc remote to my knowledge, most remotes and receivers only work with their own brands, flysky is an awesome brand too though and has even smaller receivers, they are just a bit more expensive.

Yes if you install the dumborc receiver in the vehicle. The remote itself won’t work with the stock scx24 ESC though

Cool project, I’m doing mine all foam base then plaster to cover(ran out of plaster so waiting on that) then thinking about using a quick mix concrete to finish it off and have a rocky feel and look, but that textured spray paint might be good as well

Using regular Elmer’s glue with gravel in it also works great for texture on a course and is much lighter

Sometimes, if the truck is too heavy then brass wheels can help get the center of gravity down lower but in my opinion the less total weight on the truck the better it will climb, the biggest battle is always with gravity 😄👍🏻

Every single one of those rocks on there is actually an individually carved piece of expanding foam!!!.......... That's nuts and I absolutely love it I was staring at this for the first few minutes of the video thinking oh my God he glued all those rocks to a table I'll bet that weighs a ton, kudos man that's some impressive stuff you guys got going on!

Really great ideas and I like the concept of it being modular. I don't know where you live, but where I live that foam stuff is like $10 a can. Plus, with asthma I don't like the fumes. I'd love to see you expand on this concept using something like paper mâché as that would be fully paintable without any drawbacks. Also, maybe put some kind of weight in the center of each one to make it less prone to slide when the vehicle attempts to scale it. You really hit on something cool with this!

Could you swap the scx24 receiver/esc with a WPL esc/receiver? Take the WPL 2 in 1 receiver and put it into the scx24 and run it. Basically what youre doing but vice versa. Swap the scx24 receiver/esc with the wpl receiver/esc and use the wpl battery as well

Flip those double barrels upside down to reduce compression bind. Let gravity help the secondary barrels find their home easier.

The stock wpl battery won’t work with an scx24 ESC, unless you have all the tools and supplies to change the plugs etc.

Most people re-locate the battery to the front and drop it lower. So maybe the larger battery would fit. I was surprised you had the battery still in the back up high with the weight of it there

Removing front bumper helped a ton. Next emax servo. Some ruberbands around the shocks with hyrax tires this truck crawls now.

It’s the propellant that melts the foam. You need to hold the vertically and spray from 8 - 10” away. When you spray down on it all the propellant hits the surface of the foam and melts it.
