I have been doing some research too. I'm looking at Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. I've never been to these countries but from what I read, they have the lowest crime rates in the Caribbean and they are not in the path of hurricanes (these islands rarely experience a direct hit during hurricane season). What do you think? I'm going to get a passport soon.

The youtube algo brings me to videos like this. You asked for comments, so I checked out your previous video on the subject to get a feel of where you're coming from. Here we go... My highly educated single mother of color got fed up with the U.S. in *1968,* (yep, you read that correctly) during that particular period of "Civil Rights". She packed herself, and her only child (me) up, and we moved from Los Angeles to Recife, Brazil. I was in the 5th grade. It wasn't as spontaneous as that, as she planned it out and had a job setup as a counselor at the American school there. We lived on the Boa Viagem, across from the beach for almost 3 years. Afterwards we moved to Portugal and to Kenya for a bit. Then back to L.A. . in time for me to go to High School. After college - a HBCU in the South - I got a job, during the 1980's and started traveling again, mostly in Europe, and a little in North Africa. One trip to New Zealand via Singapore. I had no inclination to become an expat. Got married, started a family...and basically stopped traveling Internationally. About 20 years ago, (mid 2000's) I had an An epiphany. Not a religious one, but an experience of a sudden and striking realization after running a personal finance spreadsheet: There was no way we could afford to live in California on less than $215,000 annual household income - and we weren't nowhere close to that. The crutch was our house kept appreciating, but unlike all of our neighbors, I would not "refi" to supplement living a "front street" lifestyle (been there/done that). Decided it was better to relocate to State with a lower cost of living...which we did. We *_Migrated Out_* of California. We didn't sell our home, we rented it out. Remember, California has some of the highest rents in America. This concept or "Arbitrage" will be important momentarily. Right before we relocated, I had a customer demand I be on site to complete a project. The site was in Vietnam. I did not want to go, as all I knew about Vietnam was what I learned in Rambo movies. I expected to see a bunch of peasants wearing funny conical hats, bent over rice paddies with automatic weapons strapped to their backs. When I got there, it was nothing like that...AT ALL. I was ashamed of myself for accepting the lies of the American media, and worse, not realizing what a great lesson my Mother _Showed_ me. Another epiphany; I was just blindly following the blind American culture of "this is the greatest place in the world". From that point, we decided to have at least one, perhaps two offshore residences. Long story short(er), in early 2010's, we wound up buying a condo in Malaysia, and a small home in Tangier, Morocco. We weren't looking to buy, but the Exchange rate of the US Dollar was soooo high vs those local currencies. This is known as geo-arbitrage. As long as the U$ Dollar is the (dominant) global exchange currency - this is a HUGE advantage for anyone earning US dollars, to spend in foreign countries. <-- But - just FYI - the window on this opportunity is closing, and closing fast. Pre pandemic, we were spending a four Months of the year between SE Asia and N. Africa, and the rest of the time back in the States. How? I have worked remote for a long time, and my wife is on an Academic Calendar. The great thing about both of these locations is they are perfect bases of cheap reginal travel. From Tangier, we can fly NONSTOP to tons of places in Europe for as little as $8 each way. You may want to familiarize yourself with Ryanair if you haven't already. The place in Malaysia is next door to Singapore, where R/T flights to Japan or Korea are about $225, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines like $80. Dubai/Doha for $349 RT. Moreover, and don't get me started, but Health care cost (and you already did the math here, so you know I ain't no youngster - and health care is IMPORTANT now) are ridiculously low, yet exponentially superior to anything in America. The downsides to this - other than the pandemic which forced us back to America where we couldn't get out - is Family. If one has a aging parent or someone that requires care, its a big decision. Also, I simply would not recommend Solo expat living to anyone but the young (30 or younger). Living in a strange location alone takes a certain type of personality. A solid companion is very important...at least until you build a local circle of friends. With all that said, and without knowing much detail of your life, but think about it this way: *Plan-A* and *PLAN-B.* (a "Plan-C if you can swing it). In today's _Modern_ world, there is no need to live in any one place anymore. No need to think of just one destination. When one can Buy a ocean view Condo in Pattaya Thailand for $25,000, or a House in Zanzibar Tanzania for $70,000, one need not limit themselves. What may be as important is obtaining some long-term residency when making that location choice. If the SHTF here, you may need more than a Passport to ride out a long storm someplace else. If you reside East of the Mississippi, I would strongly suggest Portugal or Spain. Not that long of a flight. Otherwise somewhere in Central America perhaps. Canada is expensive. SE Asia is a great option, but that's a 15-hour flight out of a West coast city. I am not a fan of the Caribbean islands. As always, enjoy "city shopping," try on a few locations for size, narrow your choices down to a couple/few contenders, then spend at least 3 Months in a place before moving. Try your best to be conversational in the local language if its other than English. And don't purchase for at least 18 Months of living in a location. Well, there you have it! Good luck and all the best.

Stay in your country! Always put God first! Fight for what you believe and vote.. have a say.. We all know what a bad, power hungry, self centered man can do to make our country fall apart. Dictatorship is nothing we want as 1st or last choice.. because they will never leave. We need more people to stand up and demand better for the US!! BETTER FOR ALL!!

1st on my list is Mexico. My mother has permanent papers and has been living there for the past 2 yrs. I would love to consider destinations in Europe, however they're too far away. Belize or somewhere in the Caribbean would be my 2nd & 3rd options. Note: There's a reason why Canadians are leaving Canada for Mexico; taxes are too high, crime, healthcare is a crap shoot, housing and so on. So Canada would not be a serious contender.
