I put an umbrella on one side and a water bottle in the other. It's thin however I recently watched a KZfaq video of a lady who managed to fit a 650ml water bottle inside. We just need to shop around for a thinner bottle.

Nice review, but misses how comfortable it is to carry. Seems it is not done for longer walks as it has no support for the back.

Have not yet closed it and not felt like i am completely encased in "personal climate zone". I might debate the "Completely waterproof" though. as i have walked in medium rain, (ok, for extended time, over an hour) and on my right arm, about at elbow height, it got a little wet underneath. BUT it stayed warm. Nothing i would return it for. Everything else is brilliant. It's a rugged piece of kit. Not an ultralight jacket. I was able to roll it into it's own hood, but that's still about 4-5 liter volume. If it ever breaks. i will probably buy another one. The only caveat i have, i have to travel vertically to find Temperatures where it is actually challenged, for shopping trips within my town, a lighter jacket is more than enough. You really have to be still in snow for a few hours to really appreciate this one. But i do.

Would this be warmer than the Rab Valiance? I'm guessing this is made more for arctic conditions where rain isn't as likely, but similar warmth, right?

For the price of €500 in Europe, I would have expected a removable lining so that the anarok can easily be adjusted to the weather. Fjallraven has done this with another model of anarok.

Did you find the wool lining to be itchy at all? (or does it have another soft lining over the wool)? I used to have a couple wool sweaters and always found them too itchy unless i was wearing long sleeve tshirts underneath

I bought this anorak a few years ago. It's really good in every way, very practical. But there are three points to bear in mind, in my opinion: - it's a heavy windbreaker and, as a windbreaker, it's effective. But it's not warm, because it has no insulation. So you need (as mentioned in the video) a warm jacket, down jacket or something similar to wear underneath. - it's relatively waterproof, even if you use a lot of special wax. It can withstand snowfall, even slush, but not real rain. You need to know that. And so, a perfect anorak for winter and mid-season. - the G-1000 is basically a canvas and, as such, it wears out where there are creases, at the sleeve ends, for example, which will quickly get little holes from rubbing. Otherwise, it's a great anorak.

Debating between this Rab Batura & the Mythic Ultra. The Batura is more durable and warmer on specs. But it is also a lot bigger when compact. When hiking up a mountain in winter, or camping, or even mountaineering, would you say this jacket is too big and bulky? Especially since it would be in your pack when on the move, it would take up a heck of a lot f space... meanwhile, the Mythic Ultra is very small because it doesn't have the durable outer layer.

The color grading of this video is making my eyes bleed all over my Fjallraven jacket. Thankfully it's waxed, so it's just beading off.

Been wanting this for a looooong time. Finally ordered it last week, still waiting on it to arrive. After watching this video I’m kinda worried about my choice of size. I chose the medium (before seeing this video). I’m 5”7 @ 164lbs. Really hope I don’t have to return it 🙁

@@GetUpTheMountains so I got it a few days after this post so I actually had a little time to try it out. It’s winter in Maryland (US) and I’ve worn in every day in temps ranging from 40 - 12 degrees F (snow and lite rain). The medium size IS a little big but not overly large. I’d say it’s perfect for layering but not too big to where it feels like I’m “swimming” in it. If you don’t plan on layering with it at all, I’d def size down but IMHO I think you should stick with your normal sizing. I love this Anorak and find it’s extremely versatile and useful in many situations. I WILL say that the cuffs could use a third snap though. You’d have to have MASSIVE bicep size wrists (exaggerating a bit) in order for them to be tighter but I feel as though this is a minor inconvenience and can be remedied by again, adding a third snap. It IS expensive, but I gotta admit that the quality, design, aesthetics and, versatility is well worth it 👌🏽💯

Amazingly comfortable are also Karl Pro. Although none strech parts are there. But I had to return them because they are not built for my height 170cm. Shaped knees were too low. And I hate that we have to finish bottom of legs. So Keb and Abisko are my favorites in long leg pants. Ruaha in shorts.

Fjallraven used to be great and be made in really good quality. Now it’s made in China. I won’t touch it.
@Mr.Arrows
@Mr.Arrows 13 күн бұрын
Common misconceptions is that everything from China is bad and cheap. While often production is cheaper the quality can uphold high standards. The problem is if you pay 10 cents for a product that should be 100 dollar then it is likely just crap but if you pay 50 dollar it will probably be the same quality. Take a look at your phone, i promise that most of it is made in China.
@Mr.Monta77
@Mr.Monta77 13 күн бұрын
@@Mr.Arrows Mine is made in India actually. I have worked and lived in Asia, in Singapore, Japan and China. While is is true that you can get a quality product made in China, provided you pay for it, but a major challenge is product quality consistency. A very common problem is that manufacturing companies and smaller suppliers will substitute materials for less expensive raw material, and gradually replace them. This can be done in many ways, sometimes almost invisibly. But you will also find that every fifth or eight finished article are made with lower quality grade etc. This means that you have to spend a lot of energy making sure that the consistency is there. And since you presumably don’t speak chinese, you will soon become reliant on a quality inspector. But pressure, corruption and stealing are very difficult to handle in China, since you’re dependent on keeping up production volume and suddendly, you will find that your production will stop while mysterious and complex ‘investigations’ are undertaken, and you suffer. The easy way out is to pay more than agreed but this also leads to more problem and soon you’re forced to pay them much more than agreed. And this is with the people you like and in who’s family you had dinnrr last week. Socially very complex. And I haven’t talked about IP security or theft. So please do not be naive. I have learned some lessons in China, costly ones. And I’m not alone. This is very common. PS In Japan all of the above are very rarely a problem, since people’s attitude are totally different.
