As a Cardiff lad, I feel safer going to Merthyr because there are less immigrants.

I was born in Wokingham and bought up in Reading (used to be 42 miles from Reading to Swindon) Anyway I digress! We moved from Reading to Swindon in 1961 due to my dad's job in the tyre trade, we lived at the Cricklade road end of Beatrice st (86) back then Swindon was becoming quite a dynamic go ahead place, the Railway works was still thriving and many companies were moving their HQs there from other parts of the country and they had just started remodeling the town centre!, we only lived there for 4 years before we got moved to Portsmouth to open another branch but I really enjoyed it although dad didn't like it much for some reason, it's really sad to see it's apparently gone down the tubes??, I've been watching lots of vids on Reading (we went back to live there in 67 and stayed there until emigrating to Australia in 81) Reading looks really dynamic and vibrant in contrast to Swindon nowadays, I was expecting Swindon to be the same, what happened! Yeah loved all 3 places we lived in UK, Reading Swindon and Portsmouth great times! I now live in a little town in North Queensland Australia which I love and I'd never come back to live in UK but it's so interesting to see these places as they are now and indeed were when I lived there, Cheers to Swindon hope things get better, was a great town many wonderful memories ❤🇳🇿

Hessle road "Tower blocks" giving the impression there are lots of them, as I recall there are 2 close to the town centre end of the road and 2 more a few miles away at the other end of the road. Not a exactly a concrete jungle! Not saying you are wrong about it being a "rough "area but you need to watch the context of what you say.

the North is called wednesbury. I lived there with I was 15, left when I was 21. Went to University in the SE. Had to leave the midlands because there was no work for a budding software developer. Graduated, thought of coming back, decided not to. My older brother stayed and rents doing a min wage job with 3 kids. I remember going back home during breaks from Uni, would end up heating debates with my parents who never wanted house prices to come down to allow the youg folk to buy. My parents were massivly deluded back then. Anyway I still visit, but opnly for the day. I made the big mistake of staying over night in walsall, went to the local bars I used to go to - varisty, yateses, sofa sofa (used to be called the black swan) - all shut. As it got darker, it just felt bad and unsafe. Last debate I had with my parents that want me to move back up there, why would I sell my house in the SE to move back up to that?

What were the crime rates for Bransholme out of interest? No figures shown. Brought up on Bransholme and I've achieved a lot whilst there, including gaining a degree and a very well paid job. I don't live there now but I wouldn't put anyone off living there based on the crime rates. I feel the rates are not a true reflection of what it's actually like to live there. 'Worst areas to live' is a bit extreme

I lived close by for 25 years so do have some local knowledge about Lye. Up until the late 1980s it was a 'salt of the earth' white British working class town. Then the mulims moved in and within a short time, took the place over. Some say "Import the third world and you become the third world". I leave that for viewers to judge for themselves. I could tell you a lot about the goings on there but already i suspect my comment, based on personal observation is likely to be deleted by some clever ass.

I lived there for a few years ,the swan in lydney was supposed to be tough but to be be fair if your polite people are the same back , I found cinderford not aggressive but down trodden . I come from London so nothing shocks me ,but there is a massive lack of opportunities for young people and adults ,there is no industry apart from tourism and that’s weak ,most people have never even heard of the the Forest of Dean .The Foresters are a very loyal folk ,they hate the Welsh and the ENGLISH and consider themselves foresters ,but treat them ok and there ok ,me old butt
These areas aren't the only ones full of shit and trash and deprivation. Even the nicest areas are full of crime and trash. The city council is a JOKE. Their responsibility is to not only enforce these laws but to ensure this waste also gets cleaned up, not leaving it for months and years on end in public spaces. Even parks, such as the paths to War Memorial Park, are full of trash. This city has a wonderful and long-standing history -- so it's a great shame what it's become due to the lack of incentive on the part of the local authorities. It's rare to see any sort of active police presence, outside of an occasional passing car. The city seems to not care about the fact that active patrols are a great deterrent for crime as well as holding companies that own the housing (themselves included) accountable to the livable standards every human deserves. Funnily enough, the city gets cleaned up pretty nicely right before elections.. Fancy that. Also, I'm pretty surprised you didn't cover the actual city center. It all looks much worse than most of these places and has the highest crime rate. Half the Precinct and the area going past towards the Market might as well be a ghost town.

I live in Chapelfields it really isn't as bad as it's made out to he. Crime activity has been calm now for a few years and I've lived here for all my life I'm 25. Sure it has it's rough moments but it's not often and its usually calm.

Coventry has changed since the 1980's . I enjoyed living there , the people are some of the friendliest I've ever met anywhere . Back in the 80's I walked through Hillfields every day , there was no litter then , just graffiti saying " ZION IS HELL " . The ingredients to cook a whole curry cost what a bunch of Coriander costs now . Inflation is eating this country along with other factors .

Mate get fucked. I've lived in St Paul's for 10 years and the people are amazing. Never had any trouble or anything. It's one of the best places in Cheltenham to live for the community, and is so close to Pitville and the town centre and the college campus which is one of the best media centres in the country. You don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about.

I lived just round the corner from the Britwell Estate in the late 90s despite its reputation it wasn't as bad as claimed. Shopping centre was decent enough and the Cinema. It's a shame Council negligence has caused so much devastation to what should be "considering how near to Heathrow" a bustling town.

Thank you for this. I was born and raised in Walsall (I left when I was 18) It breaks my heart to see what Walsall has become. It used to be a great market town, with beautiful, Victorian and Georgian architecture. You would never see garbage thrown on the street and while it has always been working class, there used to be civic pride. Now, there is an attitude of complete disrespect toward people, public spaces and communities, along with a growing attitude of entitlement. Many young people don’t want to work, they expect the government to take care of them and, with no work, boredom leads to drink, drugs and antisocial behavior.
