I just cut off the locking mechanism. I understand putting locks on these if you're using them in a public setting, but for residential, nobody you invite into your home is going be attempting to steal these. It's a stupid design.

It's these big telecom giants that are the worst and they give independent isp providers a bad name or limited choices what they can provide the consumer for a better price and it's not of Teksavvy's fault themselves. Has a Canadian I believe we should have more competition like Americans do that way it gives us better options and better choices then the Big Telecom giants themselves. Personally I wouldn't knowing what their own fibre is like since they only provide it in one area back east.

it's not fiber glass (per say). They are aramid Kevlar fibers and require Kevlar rated shears to cut correctly. This provides additional strength around the fibers and can prevent water incursion.

It seems to be common practice to run the Corning fast access cable with its easy to remove cladding. There also seems ot be a trend to moving to the cable that has six fibers in it regardless of the dwelling (single family residence or MDU (multiple dwelling Unit). That may be a side effect of supply chain issues in acquiring cable in bulk the way that Bell would in the hundreds of spools. One thing I missed was how he applied the terminator connection. I know they used to use a Corning mechanical attachment method. Some places go with a connector that is attached by splicing ashort pigtail containing the connection. Even Rogers' cable (The main tv competitor) is starting t move towards fiber at the residence and for large MDU buildings. they just dropped in a 96-fiber cable for our building that has 390 apartments. I'm not sure what equipment they are emplacing yet. One possibility is they will move towards fiber connected modems with 5G backup connectivity in place of the current RG6 cabled home hubs. We have had a lot of copper wire theft in our building as the RG6 runs externally along the balconies and up the firewalls.

I used a cable tie for this. Works well. I also used a Sharpie to put a small mark on top of the AP, so I know where that slot is, as it's hard to see when the AP is mounted on the ceiling.

That's the point right there It's rogers not teksavvy themselves I believe the opinion I have left the majority of Canadians would agree.

shame on all of them running cable on the exterior of a house. It always looks like hell!

O.k but it is a bit different and more difficult to catch the plate in front trying to turn it, as the back side is solid on the wall!
