Do I at anytime hold my breath while using the spirometer? Or do i just breathe normally? At the end of each inhale, I remove the mouthpiece from my mouth and then place the mouthpiece back into my mouth when I'm ready to perform another inhale. I have the Voldyne 2500 and the pulmonary doctor told me to perform the breathing exercises 2X a day 10-14 reps each time.

Ahhh, yes! Great question! it's a good idea to clean it daily. Detach the mouthpiece from the base of the device and clean it with clean running water and antibacterial soap for about 20 seconds. Then wash the rest of the spirometer with water and soap.

You are wonderful. This video ties many of my issues together so I can understand how they interact. I am 74 years old on mendicare. I am diabetic taking short and long acting insulin. I can not drive a car for 10 years as I have damge to my retinas from mahy years of uncontroled diabetes. Now with contininuous glucose monitorIng I completely controll my blood suganr and diet. I am NOT on an Insulin pump. I have COPD. I use a CPAP machine at night. I have suplemental oxygen at night. Your advised in another video to get a Pulmonary Function Test. I had to get a referal from my CPAP Sleep doctor to the Pulnologist. We found out rrom the PFTs and a chest xRay I have combined lung issues. Chronic cough, Alergic Rhinitis, Moderate Asthma and Hpoxia on exertion. I just atarted an inhaled dry medicine . I am now a Senior Lung Nerd doing well aging at home. Thank you Elizabeth.

I have very severe emphysema and bronchiectasis All the things u have mentioned I suffer with all the time I commented on your video on bloating With all the symptoms in this video and your one on bloating I get every symptom all at the same time I’m never not in pain I also have severe osteoporosis and last yr had two severe wedge fractures at T6/7 and the time I was told it was muscular 5 months later I was in the hospital with my gallbladder and had a Ct which revealed the fractures and they have caused me to have height loss and kyphosis 😢 The Ct report also stated the fractures were present on X-ray back in the feb which was 5 months earlier All muscular? I was told to carry on as normal as much as possible Now I’m in a right mess and in so much pain which not only the front of my body but also my back which I put all down to the fractures and kyphosis I’m thinking now it could be a combination and copd could be causing sone of the pain My abdomen burns from the waist down into my groin and down the front of my legs it’s just awful Could this all b copd related ? I only have 27% lung function now and can say Life for me is not a life I would wish on anyone I can’t go out anymore because of the humidity pollen heat cold it’s got me really bad and I’m so inactive now because I can do very much at all I can just manage to get to my kitchen and bathroom which are very close together in my small house I have fans going when hot and a air purifier on which is on 24/7 I never turn the purifier of Can you suggest anything eles that would make it easier to breath indoors please I live in the uk so we don’t have air conditioning I keep doors and window shut unless the humidity is lower outside and the pollens are down Any advise please

Thanks for the video. I was on a BiPAP in the hospital just 3 weeks ago after suffering acute respiratory failure associated with my COPD. Doc said if it hadn't worked they would have had to ventilate me. While on the BiPAP, I started feeling claustrophobia. Fortunately I only had to have it on for about 24 hours. I'm home now and recovering well with supplemental oxygen.
