9 ans déjà, j 'y étais et j'ai pu rencontré Steve Ferrone, j'étais assis juste sur la gauche de Ferrone, j'ai pu faire connaissance de Mao Blanc le guitariste

The cheat about this is.... Michael Jackson used so many (percussion) rhythms in his songs as overdubs. In a cover band (mostly without soundloops like these, try and drum the same patterns J.R. is playin' here missing out on the adds and it sucks. (straight 8s on hihat).. There's no groove in the straight playin'... Trying to catch some of these percussion rhythms/accents on hi hat.... That's where it's getting interesting for us humble coverdrummers 🙂 (this is in no way meant to bash the wonderfull playing of J.R. ofcourse!!)

I met him in Germany-great and nice man! He was playing "Ain't Nobody" from Chaka Khan after Rod Morgenstein did a solo!! He hit the stage with words-" I"m into simple things" and big smile ! What a Man !

The interview stuff is cool, but with a title like "Mysterons, Portishead - live with Clive Deamer on Gretsch drums" I was expecting to listen to a performance without any interview clips. Guess that's your channel's style tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He played the part on the album. It wasn't programmed. They recorded him, mixed the drums, pressed them on vinyl and then Geoff looped the part form there.

5:48 Uh, I've heard of traditional grip, mstched grip, French grip, German grip and American grip. What is J.R. using with his left hand? Looks like the "upside down" grip ??? Known probably more for his time keeping than soloing.
