Hey man I dig the way you think. I'm doing the same thing for my 66 f250. Another thing to consider is 1) adding a "bypass oil filter" kit commonly found on HD trucks. I got one from Amsoil 2) look into surface scraping (gasket surfaces) using Prussian blue marking dye, machinist scrapers, small surface plate (optional) etc. To match surfaces and help prevent leaks.

If the alternator belt keeps coming loose (consistently) would it be the pulley maybe not being centered? What would you think causes this? I’ve tightened the tensioner bolt well as well.
@FastFords289
@FastFords289 7 күн бұрын
@@hectorhenriquez145 is it a new belt, I’d say maybe it’s stretching beyond what they are supposed to which isn’t a common thing at all I’ve ever seen. Are you using a new bolt or original? The original bolts had a washer with like a ridge made to it to act as a lock washer to help hold the tensioner and bolt in place. The pulley not being aligned properly may cause this, perhaps it’s off center so it’s stretching but not exactly sure, usually if they’re off center they’ll just squeak or if they’re really bad they’ll just throw them off. I’d just do a double check on everything, if everything looks good and tight then maybe try a new belt just to see if perhaps it could be the belt. Sorry I couldn’t be more help, good luck. Thanks for watching.
@hectorhenriquez145
@hectorhenriquez145 5 күн бұрын
@@FastFords289 I’m pretty sure it’s simply because of the new bolt that came with my new alternator being too tiny and not gripping the tensioner due to less surface tension and like you said it doesn’t have the lock washer that originally came with the car, (thought why not use the shiny new bolt) so I threw the old bolt with the wide lock washer on there and it’s looking good now hopefully won’t keep getting loose thanks, you diagnosed my problem without even taking a look lol

That looked like you may could've tightened the tire up against the frame just a bit better. If it was like that in the beginning when the first one fell out, that's probably why. Thanks for the video 👍🏽 "Cool Runnings" I couldn't help notice what looks like a new or perhaps newly painted air cleaner assembly. Would I be correct to assume that's a 2100 or 2150 Auto Lite Carb under it? If it's new can you please tell me what retailer you sourced it from? Short of buying an after market set up I'd like to buy what the truck came with. It's the only item on my truck that's not 100% original. Off hand do you happen to know the flange size of the carb that these air cleaner housings fit over ? I'm a bit too old to climb up there and measure 😕. PS. I noticed we both need a drip rail molding that fits against the firewall which carries water away. That might be a decent video 🤔 Cheers and thanks again.

@@hammerman8919 you’re very welcome, actually that’s the original air cleaner to bay truck, I just took a steel wool soap pad and scrubbed it with window cleaner or dish washing liquid then took some compound and polish and rubbed it to brighten it back up from the stew wool dulling it down. I drilled out the rivets that hold the snorkel on and painted it and bolted it back on. I got a video on my channel going over all that if you’d like to check it out. You can order one off eBay and restore it like I did for my 76 ford truck. Actually no that’s a Holley 500 cfm two barrel carb on there, it was already on there when I bought the truck but it works beautifully, I like it so much that I ordered that exact same one for my 76 and did a video on that as well if you’d like to check that out. I’m not sure on the size of the flange but most aftermarket air cleaners all use the same size as the stock ones. Yeah good catch, I do need one, just haven’t ordered one for it yet and yeah it would make a good video, which I’m sure I’ll be doing one on it when I finally get one, thanks for the suggestion. @@MarissaFischer-k3n I used steel wool soap pad and window cleaner, or any kind of soap really and rubbed it all down, that’ll bring back most of it but it’ll be dull. I didn’t want a super shiny finish as bays not how they were from the factory but if you want you can make it shine like chrome, like polished aluminum just takes some time. Someone told me to spray hairspray on the new rubber when installing. It goes on wet and slips into place easy, and then dries with a little bit of stickiness to hold it just a touch better. What do you think?
@FastFords289
@FastFords289 15 күн бұрын
@@michaeledwards8051 that’s interesting, I’ve never heard that before, I mean it kinda makes sense, I’m not sure how long you’d have to work with it though before it started drying on you though especially if you’re doing it during the summer when it’s hot out, I’d think it would dry too fast and then make it more difficult to work with because of the tackiness. Plus ford never installed a sealer on the rear glass anyway so it’s not needed. I removed my original glass and it had no sealer and never leaked, I installed my sliding glass and didn’t use any sealer and hasn’t leaked a drop so truthfully I think it would probably cause more problems than it would help. If the cowl is quite full of water, you can hear it slosh back and forth on the passenger side when steering back and forth quickly. Pull the passenger side drain tube out the bottom and tons of water (and possibly all your debris) will drain out. The passenger side appears to be worse generally than the drivers side, but pull both and clean inside the rubber drain. If you feel around inside the hole (in the cowl) after the drain tube is removed and it feels clean you may not need to remove the top grate. If you remove the top cowl grate, make sure you get a cabin air filter first as that's a perfect time to do both. I'd recommend purchasing new Cowl Drain Tubes if the old ones are in rough shape. They direct the water and probably prevent some fumes from entering the cabin, especially on the passenger side which contains the fan.
