Hi i found freshwater mussels in the pond in the lowlands. Can i put them in a river in the highlands?
@ChesapeakeBayFoundation24 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I touched base with our scientist and he said it would be best to check with an expert from your local wildlife division before moving or disrupting mussel populations.

Yup, my suburban home in eastern Mass has a few watery areas (vernal pools) and you can hear them so loudly at night. Amazing. Never seen one, but you can easily hear them.

Your favorite oyster knife is call a Boston style(my preferred OK as well) but I also favor the Chesapeake stabber as well…just trying to refresh my memory…the little table is a novel idea, havnt seen that before… great vid bro… I do use the OK to flick away shell debris …I also have seen a shucker flip the oyster when finished in the cup(it gives it a fuller presence in the shell), looked good and I’ll be giving that a try….TY4Posting

Oysters filter pollutants by consuming them or shaping them into small packets, which are deposited on the bottom of the bay where they are not harmful.

Idk why ppl are so short sighted that they think bulkheads are better than what nature's been doing fot millions of years. I have native aquatic plants in my front ditch and my neighbors just have grass or just dirt and it's a total mess when it rains. Mine has flowers and tall grasses!
