@@70GD they look great! Im looking for a pair but they are usually 15 years old- is that a problem? Do you think the Mozart drivers and crossovers are probably toast after 15 years?
@glenndavis7313
@glenndavis7313 2 ай бұрын
Crossovers should be fine. The mid woofer drivers cons can separate from the surrounds. You’ll know if you hear buzzing from any of the four drivers. Mine had one blown woofer because the owner used them with a cone separated causing excessive VC rub. I had to replace that driver. Another cone was partially separating which I reglued. The other two I ran a thin bead of glue around the cone and surrounds on the back side so it wouldn’t happen to them. They are very nice sounding.

@70GD
@70GD Жыл бұрын
Glad you have it up and getting to know your A-X9! Being all original, I’d strongly suggest you have a good tech go through it. Mine has had almost every board recapped, many bad transistors, and some diodes replaced. My tech adjusts the bias so it runs pretty cool, only getting warm after many hours of listening. Class-A amps typically run hot, but over the years it’s not a good. You could also get a small computer fan with a plug, plug it into the plug on the back of the amp so it blows into the amp to help keep it cool. I do this on my P-L10 preamp, and Scott tube amp. Cheers!

Sorry for the late reply. AR12s, no question. They have the great AR sound, but more modern sound. Every aspect is better in my opinion. I had many vintage Ar sprakers "The older the smoother" The old cheaper & even smaller models that in some cases had 6 to 8 inch woofer & a 2 way models more "Darker" and smooder models. The woofer was projecting most of the sound . The AR-3 & Ar3a came with 3 way cross& with that large Dome mid driver . Thats actually the first time Ar turn to be more open sounding "all arround sound" so Ar-3 was good but ccross let the woofer do lot of the work then ar-3a came with diferent cross that shfted alot of the effort to the midrange unit. Makes the ar3a more open & crispy sound and little harash for some type of music that needed darker 2 way speaker to filter lots of that harash bad mix noisees etc . So in my overall opinion If you like old music jazz soul r&b look for vintage 2 way Ar ... If you more into.more electro like in this clip.go get vintage JBL L100
