As a NASCAR fan starting to get into weather, I did NOT expect Jamie McMurray to appear in this video.

I watched Twisters a few days ago and I think it had the same effect on me that the original Twister had on people in 96, when they were my age. It was so good, so fun, and it got me back listening and learning bout tornadoes

This exact tornado made me have PTSD since I was 5 months old, so since then when there's slight rain I wake up if I'm not already up, and no I'll not get a therapist

I used to live in Panama City in 2012-13. We lived in the Cove neighborhood. I heard that the apartment building we lived in was completely destroyed. Most of the downtown was flooded and the marina was basically destroyed. The 3 headed palm tree was uprooted. We used to swim at Mexico Beach- its destruction is truly heart breaking. Further inland, the tall, thin pine trees were uprooted and tossed by the winds like spears. My friends sent me pictures of these trees after they were hit the sides of their home- it looked like a spear struck their home. It was crazy!

Ah memories. Me and my cousin actually have a crappy KZfaq video we made from this situation (before we realized how shitty it was) Her dad couldn't pick her up from my house because of all of the ice and snow. My pipes froze and exploded, so we couldn't shower, and we had no internet, so no phones really. (rip to all fellow gen z on that one) Luckily, we use mainly gas in my house so we could still cook and stay warm-ish. I can't even imagine how awful it was for people with no heat.

I remember right before this I saw icicles for the first time and me and my brother FREAKED OUT, it was also my second time ever seeing snow in real life and I remember getting tired of it after about two days. one kinda scary-ish memory I have is my mom telling us that she didn't want us sleeping alone and that was very ominous....it was a time.

Man I haven't thought about Harvey in a while... (paragraph incoming) I don't remember much because I was pretty young. I lived in Corpus Christi at the time. I remember my parents preparing the house for the storm, some of the drive to SA, watching the rain through the patio door in my great grandparent's house, and the most vivid memory is seeing a video from my mom's friend of a fallen palm tree getting thrown across a parking lot and the most rain I had ever seen in my life. upon returning I don't remember seeing much damage in my neighborhood, although I think the McDonalds took some damage. And I remember it being sort of...anti-climatic ig? I heard so much about how bad it was but I never saw anything that bad so it was just kinda a "huh..." moment. it was very strange

I remember having to deal with a deep freeze in Illinois a few years back and my electricity shutting off because the ice and snow and stuff messed with one of the electricity lines which caused it to like rip and start sparking everywhere but that was only for a night I can’t imagine dealing with that in a state where the houses aren’t built for the cold and for a whole week that’s insane.

Even for most seasoned storm chasers and TV crews, Joplin was unimaginable. One important factor you missed about the 2011 Joplin EF5 was due to the tornado being wrapped in sheets of rain, which made it impossible to see for residents and take immediate shelter. That also led to the deaths of 158 people as mentioned. The 1953 Waco F5 was eerily similar to Joplin. That too was completely obscured by rain, which made it impossible for residents to see and take immediate shelter. 114 were killed due to this factor, and since the Waco F5 occurred in the 1950s, tornado tracking technology was in early stages of development.

I feel your Pain and offer my sincerest condolences from losing your grandparents and all the misery from all the legal nightmares and personal loss of those so very close to you.. I was in a very similar boat.. my grandparents were my "parents " and so very awesome... I wasn't ready when mine passed and know how it is.. More so than I am willing to go into here. Lastly, the video was excellent, and I was there and also witnessed other tornadoes that day.. and that year as I stayed close to Moore and was within a half mile of it. (2013 05/20) Back to and before '99 and have had my days getting more than too close of some tornadoes. Such as 203 meters of 2003's Moore tornado (EF4) and can certainly understand how the storm(s) can act erratically! Regardless, Great vid AAA+ Best, "NIC"

I actually live only a few towns over from Joplin, and I was born in St John’s hospital a few months before this all went down. I never really got to see the damage as I was too young, but just being a tad related to all of by being someone who commonly goes to Joplin and was born there is kind of cool.

Concerning how Melissa hears Joe and Bill arguing after the hilltop tornado, Joe was mic’d up with a wireless CB that Bill sets her up with during the “Walk Through the Woods” scene. So she could hear them yelling over the channel via Joe’s CB mic.

Man oh Man. I forget how old I was, but I live in Jersey, and I remember watching the forecast on my dad's phone a couple days earlier as it showed a direct hit over the state. I only live a couple minutes from the beach, and we're lucky we didn't get much damage at all

If you put yourself in danger to learn things to save people sometimes you loose it. But they have saved so many others with their data.
