It’s always good to see your content. ACAN is forever a favorite of mine and I went from foot soldier to emperor through the Praetorian TWICE. I’d never submit myself to balance coded by someone who thinks spartans were hardcore - which means they don’t know actual history. I’d love for a good mod to cover South America and specifically brazil around the time of the separatist revolts or the struggle for power over the area between Portugal, Spain, Netherlands and France. Between Empires is the closest we get to that on Gameplay. Viking Conquest is so artistic and well put together, I had runs as viking and as englishmen, and even a “Liberator of Friese!” A World of Ice and Fire is… clearly a statement of how Produno is an asshole just as much as a talented modder. Completely unbalanced. Perisno is just art. Art, I tell you. I have a save waiting for me to finish the Zann as a Venetorian general.

I actually disagree with how battle maps were generated between the two games and how good it was. With Warband you got maps generated as you said, depending on where you were for the site of battle. Hilly, mountainous area? That's what you got. But Bannerlord resorts to premade maps regardless of where the fight took place. It was all the same after you play them enough. This was very useful in a tactical sense. Do you have infantry mostly with not enough and even weak cavalry? Enemy army has a lot of knights? Fight in the mountains and hills, pick a good spot of terrain, i.e. "The High Ground," and negate the cavalry advantage of mobility and shock charges. Give your infantry a better chance. The enemy will slowly ascend steep slopes. More time for your archers and javelins to shoot them up before the lines are closed for melee combat. The Total War series used to do map generation based on where the fight took place at on the campaign map way back with the original Rome Total War in the mid 2000s. Fight taking place in the mountains between Gaul and the Italian Peninsula? Then you got mountainous and hilly battle map. Fight in the mountains of Asia Minor? Same thing. Fight in the open desert of modern day Iraq? Flat terrain with sand. Terrain enabled some lower quality armies beat or at least more severely bleed a superior army. But Creative Assembly stopped doing that with later games. Battle maps have been lame ever since. It's all flat open terrain now. Hills are minor bumps on the ground.

Sweet lord that TAA suggestion is NOT recommended if you are playing on 1080p or below. If you are using any grass/tree mods, it creates a lot of flickering and aliasing since there are no previous frames to smooth out the edges. FXAA is not great either since it's just a post processing blur effect for approximate edges and makes the overall image worse. You WANT to use TAA in FO4, whether you are on 1080p, 1440p or 4K since majority of Grass/Tree Mods require such Anti-Aliasing to look good. If you are bothered with TAA's blurriness, I'd suggest getting Reshade and use CAS. Texture Quality is only taxing if you don't have enough VRAM and FO4 as a whole already looks bad with High Textures. FO4 can run Ultra textures (without mods) on a 3GB VRAM card which nowadays have 6GB (1660ti's) or 8GB (RTX 3050 to 3070 for example) and they can easily run it. Even a dinky GTX 750ti can run Textures on Ultra. Only lower it if you know you're starved for VRAM/RAM, otherwise use Ultra Textures. FO4 as a whole without mods/ENB is not GPU intensive but more akin to CPU intensive. It requires a beefy single core performance as well as multi core performance. If you really want to boost your FPS and you already have a decent enough GPU, you want to upgrade your CPU for huge gains especially in Boston. (5800X3D for example is a HUGE gain over 5700x due to the L3 Cache) The only reason Boston fucking sucks at running on nearly any hardware is due to the amount of draw calls it needs, even if you can't see them they are more likely to render in the background. PRP/Boston Fix fixes this.. mostly anyways. If you want to improve CPU performance, I'd recommending reducing View Distance settings (Try Digital Foundry's setting) or reducing uGridstoLoad, it's a dangerous thing to change but I've been using 3 and Exterior Cell Buffer to 16 and I haven't gotten any issues with it (Finished Base Game + DLCs with UGrids to 3). It will however create a lot of pop ins so be aware of that.

Thank you. I just got FO4 for PC. I had been playing on PS4 where “mods” are one click but extremely limited. You made it easy to understand and not intimidating. I especially appreciated starting with an overview of how Script Extender, Vortex, mods, and Nexus relate to one another.

Yea, I love Bannerlord for its graphics and improved settlement management stuff, but the game ends up somehow feeling even more lifeless. My last playthrough was a 200+ mod sandwich with Realm of thrones as the main one. It was pretty amazing going to war on a dragon, commanding troops from the sky, but then I'd get somewhere new, talk to someone, and run into the same lifeless text over and over. Viking Conquest for Warband is probably my favorite campaign as it so beautifully mixed a story with emergent gameplay that I never new if someones reaction to me and quest was part of the story or not, and then all the times your companions say something, react to something you did, it was fantastic. I wish Bannerlord had _that_

Running the game on a 4070 Ti, It's the Boston city area where the fps is horrible and all over the place for me. The only thing from here that has actually helped was Shadow Boost for fps and High FPS fix for lip syncing issues and the jump height bug. The other mod's I tried listed here either did nothing or made the performance of the game worse with the added bloat.

I dont consider the towns to be full with people, they are actually quite empty.

I'm getting stable 60 fps without Shadow Boost, but when i used it, the game randomly stutters or freezes for seconds and also is there a way to log scripts? I'm still getting random stutter but not so severe like it was before.

ACAN takes me back. Will never get over becoming emperor only to turn into Gallienus and spend a month on Britain only to be in Anatolia fighting the Persians a month later then the next month I'm having to prevent Gaul from being overrun before spending a week in Rome hosting a party only to go back to Britain and continue grinding through the Britons before the next empire-wide emergency. To think it was worse during the civil war and the Jewish uprising 😅

I like the warband fighting more anyways, i first played both warband and bannerlord on console and bannerlord just feels god awful control-wise

11:20 isn't entirely true. You can in fact recruit Lords who own land, they weill take what they own with them when they join you so this is an easy way of getting Settlements without besieging them. It is however significantly more difficult to recruit lords with land since they will often have better relation to their current liege and are rich. If you however have good relations with an enemy lord who owns land but is poor (perhaps his settlements aren't faring too well because of constant warfare), it should be fairly easy to recruit them. What I noticed tho is, that it is more likely for lords to leave your kingdom at random than to join your kingdom. Even if you have good relations with them and they own land, they may just leave you for another kingdom, but they will never do the opposite in their own. You always have to actively recruit them while they may leave you on their own.

What you never appreciate about ACAN is the story you have if you play as commoner, even so the details in story is so much that by following the story you can go from a common man to emperor

Anybody saying warband is better overall is deluded by nostalgia. But one thing that pisses me off in Bannerlord is not being able to advance the age of family members or changing your appearance

The biggest issue with Bannerlord is unorically it's ambition and the size of its world. It's just empty. 1000s of same lords, companions are not memorable. Nothing stands out. MORE doesn't always mean GOOD.
