I just picked up a robertson #2 and I'm in the process of cleaning it up and restoring back to working order, what oil are you using for the hydraulic pump and what are you using for lube, thank you sir for the video
@scotthitchings94734 ай бұрын
I used a lightweight hydraulic oil. I bought the oil at Tractor Supply Center. I use a 30-weight oil for lubrication.

I knew that this would be easy to do if I could just find someone to plainly explain it. The broken English translation of electrical nomenclature is painful to try and figure out. If they had a proper translation they could sell twice as many of these cheep vfds. Thanks so much for taking the time to share the info. You're a champion!

thanks very kindly, the "english" in my huanyang vfd is.......not precisely english 😂

Thanks, a lot of fourms wont acknowledge these cheap vfds so you cant get help. But they are cheap and out of 6 only one was bad. I have been using them daily in a commercial wood shop with no trouble.

Very helpful, especially when you are trying to program the same VFD and can't read Chinese. Excellent display and explanations of codes. God Bless

Do you have a very limited functional sweep of the pot? I have this VFD and when I connect the potentiometer, the frequency goes from zero to max with about 10% rotation of the pot. I checked the pot and it's a 10K. It appears that only 0 - 1.5K is the usable range. I'm thinking of replacing the 10K pot with a 1.5K. Just wondering if you're seeing anything like this.

that is a really cool saw, i love the way they mounted the hyd pump, a lot of thought has gone into it - has a good speed and lift. The Taiwanese copied something very similar. I just purchased an old saw online, yet to work out where it was made as have not seen anything like it....should be fun.

Looks to me like someone did a very nice restoration on this saw,I have an old Millers Falls saw I use almost daily and only wish mine looked as good as this one

The rod on your saw frame is incorrectly mounted. It is supposed to extend over the pivot. This originially had a large cylindrical counter weight which slides along the rod to vary the cutting pressure of the saw. I have a Robertson #4 which still has the counterweight. Mine is a wet cuttubg machine and also has a cutting oil circulation pump.

I have a number four as well. I love mine and use it A LOT. Once you get that weight dialed in and adjust the blade correctly, mine cuts like butter..... What blades are you using on yours?

Would you mind sending me some pics, my saw has a what seems like a clutch mechanism that slides the pulley over to engage and disengage, thanks for sharing.

I recently purchased this same saw actually the flat belt driven version. Mine is missing the hydraulic lift pump and I'm trying to build one. Do you have any more pictures of the cylinders? Or even possibly dimensions of the cylinders bore and length? Is the straight piston cylinder tapered to keep the ball in the cylinder? What is the tube coming off the top that's bent? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!
@scotthitchings94739 жыл бұрын
There is a 4 1/4" piston 1" Dia. and a 5 1/4" piston 1" Dia. The bent shaft coming from the petcock (closed, tightened) locks the blade in the up position to load stock. This is done creating a hydraulic lock. This shaft goes from the petcock to the end of the saw by the vise handle. By opening the petcock it lowers the blade onto the stock for cutting. The ball check in the straight cylinder is about 5/8" Dia. steel ball. There are no seals on these pistons. The cast iron can being supported by the saw frame is an oil reservoir. On the cutting stroke the oil is drawn through the ball check. The blade is down on the stock cutting. On the return stroke the check seats. The 5 1/4" angled piston is forced down by the cam from the main drive shaft. This forces the 4 1/4" piston up, which pushes the blade up on the return stroke.

scott hitchings Thanks you for the info! If there is any more information about the machine you can share please e-mail me [email protected].
@christopherleveck68355 жыл бұрын
@@joshuasears4186 That bar you asked about holds a BIG counter weight and allows you to adjust the amount of pressure on the blade as it cuts.....The farther you pull the weight out the more force on the work piece you are cutting.
