I like that! Zentangles look great - they'd be brilliant inspiration for a project. And I do love to doodle 😄

How do you start the first stitch? Bring needle up from back or start from the front? Do you have a video on how to start a pattern? Thanks
@sweetthorn24 күн бұрын
Hi - I bring the needle up from the back of linen, so that the ends of the thread are always at the back of the work. I don't have a video showing the start of a pattern, but most of the designs are in backstitch. The Royal School of needlework has brilliant resources for blackwork here: rsnstitchbank.org/technique/blackwork

I think they can? Does the auto-translate option work? You should able to add your own translation which I can review and approve. Let me know if it's not accessible. Thanks for asking

Such beautiful work - I was immediately hooked. I have always had a bias for blackwork - when I found it in a library book it caught my imagination.

Thank you, I’m delighted 😊 I want to try other types of embroidery, but I can think of lots of potential blackwork projects. I’ll have to come back to it in the future 💕

These look great. Well done for working on something so intricate. What I found particularly interesting was that the patterns and overall sampler looks a lot like zendoodle, which was supposedly "invented" quite recently as a method of doodling, but I see that this dates back as far as Chaucer. It's reminiscent of how pixel art is just digital mosaic.

Thanks so much - I'm enjoying seeing it all come together. I'm sure the history of geometric art is very ancient. It's expressed in so many ways over and over again - always fascinating.

I have been fascinated lately with blackwork and yours is so beautiful. I'm so proud of myself that I recognized linen as the fabric you are using. Can hardly wait for the update. TFS!

I’m just learning about blackwork so I’m following some of the classic patterns that already exist. Check out the description to see the book I’m using, it’s got all the designs in it 👍
