Brave souls! Our first event was about the same. Great turnout and about 200 planes. Gorgeous 75 degree day with atrocious winds that kept most smart people grounded. I lost my Seagull Decathlon about like that J3 Cub when a gust of wind hit at the wrong time on takeoff. Was lucky to have an identical spare in the box at home. Keep'em coming Andy!

Did you paint that whole plane and sheet it all in a full I. Everything then paint that whole plane. If that is paint man that's a beautiful plane wish I had the patience to build a beautiful painted plane like that. I just finished a 35 percent scale extra 300 and I sheeted it all in and painted it using ppg paint and 2k clear which is a high gloos hard sealing mirror like finish gloss clear coat thats a two part clear and its glow fuel proof I foind out. And I clearcotwd the vynil graphics over as well. But trying to sheet in and paint a plane yours size and smaller is alot more work and sanding cause of weight

ive seen a lot of ppl miss the boat on the cowl air intakes. You need to drill around the intake and pop out the center. Take a look at the full size chipmunk's cowl. People wonder why they cant get a good engine run because they dont have enough cooling. The math is the area of the air outlet should be double the air intake.

Incredible, I come from your other video, that of the Carl Goldberg Sukhoi 26. I never imagined that I would see this video again, I saw it on VHS in the mid-90s when I was a child and now I find it here. Thank you very much for uploading and sharing it, it brings back so many good memories of better times. Greetings from Chile.

Impressive flight. In the mid-90s when I was a teenager, the person who taught me how to fly RC planes had this same Sukhoi but with the classic red and white decoration, it was the largest and most impressive plane in the club, unfortunately it only lasted a couple of flights before being injured in a crash. I never saw one of these again but it always left me with the impression that there was a flaw in the airfoil design but it was contradictory since it was a Dave Patrick design. This video clarifies to me after 30 years that this plane flies really well, I imagine it is not like the modern ultralight designs with 3D capabilities but upon landing it can be seen that it floats very well. Awesome Snaps, Tumbles and Lomcevaks. Greetings from Chile, the southernmost country in the world.

I have an X20S - I like the PRO but at twice what I paid for the X20S it is very difficult to justify. I prefer the squared-off bottom and the paddle switches but that really isn’t enough. I also prefer the side knobs to be pointing down - so much so I bought the optional knobs but haven’t fitted them - the reason is that you can’t use them with the grips fitted and I think the X20/S needs the side grips. I guess you could cut away part of the grip to accommodate the optional knobs but I wouldn’t like to do that.

Great job on the resto Andy😊 The Saito 150 was not their best offering But you can work on them and get them to tune properly I could hear a slight bit of detonation during your flight at full throttle Indicating a slight lean condition The 150 was notorious for that As they actually had very high compression ! Definitely get her rebuilt and convert to Ignition You will be much happier with the performance 😊

Hi Andy, Thanks for that video. 1988 was another year where an incident happened, but RC related and entirely my fault. I was hovering my Schluter Scout in my backyard dialing in a new gyro I had recently installed. Finally had the tail wagging eliminated and the heli was handling nicely. I came in for a landing and let the rotor speed wind down to what I thought was a slow enough speed (should have waited until it stopped). I grabbed the tail fin with my left hand to drag the heli back to where I normally takeoff. A sudden gust of wind lifted the heli just enough where the tail fin slipped through my fingers and the main rotor struck my left hand. I felt no pain when it happened, but the heli was flopping around on the ground and not responding to throttle cutoff. I took a handy towel and threw it over the heli which immobilized it so I could pinch the fuel line to stop the engine. It was then i noticed my left hand dripping blood and then started feeling throbbing pain. X-rays in the ER confirmed I had crushed the knuckle of my left index finger. I was admitted for six days on IV antibiotics to prevent an infection. The wound was left open to drain. Was in a cast for 5 months with another 5 months of rehab. I regained about 90% use of my index finger. It didn't stop me flying helis until I had the auto accident, but gave them much more respect on the harm they can cause. Hope your wife has a Happy Mother's Day.
