Bought it, read it, read it again, shared it with several motorhead friends then donated the signed copy to my local library. Going to buy another copy for myself just because it is a well written story of a pivotal moment in two wheeled time. If you read and if you ride; read this book.

So, can you comment a little on the engagement point of the clutch? I have the rcs16 and it doesn’t fully disengage until almost full retraction. I heard the RCS 19 is almost the opposite where it disengages immediately (very little lever retraction). Is this your experience with the ‘19? Agree with your assessment of the Rcs19 brake master. It is legit!

The clutch master is pretty much what the stock Honda clutch engagement is and is not grabby at all. The brake master is awesome but I'm suspecting I need to replace my brake lines as I'm not getting a hard stop if I grab the lever hard.

So your bracket and Brembo m4 100mm combo didn’t require any spacers?
@DeathsStalkerRVT
@DeathsStalkerRVT 23 күн бұрын
No I ordered the bracket from a guy in the EU that made it so you wouldn't need them. He was on e-bay and only sells a few a year but he did sell them for the EU and Japan type caliper sizes.

The 12 O'clock Labs Speedo healer is much simpler to install and calibrate. It is a direct plug into the speed sensor harness. No extra wiring. No app is needed to set up the healer. I rode with a GPS mounted on the bike and compared the GPS to the speedometer reading, and came up with a negative 12% adjustment. A few pushes of a button on the healer, and it was done. I took another ride and confirmed the speedometer is now the same as the GPS reading. Seems to be happy right next to the PC 3. No interference. It does what I needed to make the speedometer accurate. It doesn't offer the other options you mentioned, but those seem unnecessary.

The Corbin seat was was crap imo.
@DeathsStalkerRVT
@DeathsStalkerRVT 4 ай бұрын
The advantage of the Corbin and Sergent seat is that it sculptured to fit your but providing you have one that fits and then you have to sit where the seat is designed for you to sit. If you happen to be short or tall these seat will be horrible to sit on. I'm lucky that I fit on it. I found the stock RC51 seat very unconformable. I raced a Honda RS250 GP bikes that had a seat similar to the RC51 but it has a denser foam that I found better than the thin soft foam on my RC51's seat.

I was even the butler during the hunt for the fox ...I've seen the Douglas motorcycle in his garage and seen him ride it.He had his own airstrip on the property and an airplane on the front lawn and in a barn restoring it . He spoke Mid-Atlantic...he was an interesting man .

Wow that's a surprise. I noticed there was someone selling a knock off of the Race Torx chain adjuster on e-bay a few years ago at under 1/2 the price. You could try the RC51 Fans group on Facebook they would be the most up to date on what is available

I had an 84 1000F and found it to be an excellent sport/touring bike at a time that type of bike didn't really exist yet. Picked up an 85 VF1000R couple of years later and quickly found it had less usable torque than the F did around town. On the F I could run around town at 30MPH in high gear and could leave it there. Once I got to the end of town and speed limit went back to 60MPH the F would happily accelerate. The R on the other hand required a downshift to keep up until 50MPH. The deal breaker on the R was how it rode in a crosswind. A sudden gust of a crosswind while riding at speeds in excess of 60MPH would push the bike in the opposite direction you expected? The F did not do that. I also rode an 83 V65 Magna the first year they arrived. That bike had balls. Not the best seating position for sudden acceleration though. My current ride is an 02 Yamaha Fz1. My favorite bike after just over 40 years of riding.

Hey I know this is an old video, but do you recall where you got your mirrors or did you buy a carbon fiber wrap like you would for a car and coat them yourself? I recently got an rc51 and it came with carbon front and rear fenders that look great and I feel mirrors would compliment them well.

I was about to change to steal braided lines but in order to switch to that do i need to purchase different connection from master cylinder to brake line?
@DeathsStalkerRVT
@DeathsStalkerRVT Жыл бұрын
No the both use the same type of connectors. But you must replace the 6 "crush washers" the little copper washers that make the seal between the bolts and the caliper body and the bolt and the master cylinder. If you are also replacing the rear brake line you will need another 4. These crush washers are a one time use if you try to reuse them there is a good chance you will get a brake leak at the connection. They cost almost nothing and I usually purchase them in bulk (10 pack) One more suggestion purchase a new bottle of brake fluid, an opened container of brake fluid (even with the lid on) can absorb moisture affecting your brakes performance and in the long term causing corrosion in the internal parts of the brakes. Good luck ;-)

I installed a chain slider but wanter to clean the hub, but when i assemble everything i lost the feel on the clutch, should i bleed out the clutch?
@DeathsStalkerRVT
@DeathsStalkerRVT Жыл бұрын
Yes it sound like it needs to be bleed the clutch slave piston. I would bleed the master cylinder for the clutch as well as the slave piston and try to replace all fluid in the system with new brake fluid. I generally do this to my bike every season since 1 bottle of brake fluid is pretty cheap and once you open it, it starts to absorb moisture unless you live in a very dry place.

How you make your cluster blue?
@DeathsStalkerRVT
@DeathsStalkerRVT Жыл бұрын
It was a LED light bulb replacement kit your could get on E-bay for the RC51 . However you need to be very very good at working with electronic parts. You have to take off the back of the instrument cluster then loosen the soldered LED bulbs (with heat from a soldering iron) remove them and install the replacement then solder them and NOT get any solder anywhere else on the circuit board

I have a 2002 SP2, brakes are excellent. Have radial master, use HRC pads, stock rotors, SS lines. 28k miles, can still lock up my SC2 front at any speed if not careful. In fact grabbed a handful at 160 and blew out both front fork seals a while back and destroyed the front fender.

I completely understand with the SP1 only made for 2 years the bike number are a lot smaller that the SP2 that ran for 4-5 with way more produced. I'm surprised that after 20 years that so many parts for these bike are still in stock at local Honda dealers but what killing us and many "classic bike" owners are the model /year specific parts and that's only going to get worse. Unless Honda decides to start producing parts again like they are now doing for the RC30...
