Gateway times out Everytime you try to connect

In my house I had trouble with that every time I was not at home electricity would go crazy with voltage drops and cutouts. I called the power company and they came and found out it was a bad connection to my house because of corrosion and they changed the connection and after that all was fine. What was happening was that when I was away I turned off my large HiFi amplifier that pulled 100W continuously and had a large transformer inside that pulled even more when starting (so much that the lights in entire house would blink when you turned it on). This had a stabilizing effect on the bad electric connection to my house so when I was away and turned off that amplifier the electricity to my house went totally crazy with voltage drops and cutouts so bad that it burned out a washing machine motor.
