This was perfect timing for me. I’ve been dealing with issues way too long. It’s frustrating when I want to get out, just walk without pain and I get knocked down over and over. Yes, after while and getting knocked down, I begin to think will I ever get beck there. I see my goals getting pushed back farther, so frustrating. I am really hoping only 6 more weeks until I can go out without issues. I know it’s going to be just walking, but at this time, I’ll take it. I can’t wait to be able to do a 5k without crashing after the first mile.

you can pace yourself by not using your mouth to breath. the slower and softer your nasal inhalation, the more oxygenated blood the body will pick up, more red blood cells will be utilised breathing this way than short sharp mouth inhalations. if you feel the need to open your mouth, you can slow down until it is comfortable. always start very slow, or do a nice warm up.

I miss running , I used to get a hardcore run at my park running/jogging 3,miles 4 days a week. I’d also hit the gym and use treadmill, stationary bike and elliptical. Then I stopped after just and endless wave of tragedy hit and I just never recovered. Now I’m 360 lbs and utterly embarrassed and ashamed and ugly. It’s hard to find anytime to do anything as I’ve a full time night job and a job where I’m on call or working pretty much everyday. All I do is long for the days when I was a handsome and 185lbs

I’m a 60 year old ultra runner and marathoner, not a weightlifter. My strength program consists of hill repeats at various speeds and flat out sprints. No injuries, never been stronger and my muscles I need to run 100K or more have never been stronger. My core is ripped too. I do a little yoga and stretching but sprinting up hills makes your whole body strong without bulking. Eat lots of protein. Trust your instincts when training. Push when you can, have the wisdom to slow down when you need to. Good luck 🤞

I’m 53 years old, ran in high school and college and slowly stopped running years afterwards. A few months I planned to steer jogging again. During the first workout, in an early evening on a track, I planned to start my workout plan by doing light jogging. I started by stretching for about 20 minutes. However, after jogging for only about 10 minutes, my calves started to feel like they were burning. As I continued, they got painful. Finally, they locked up and I couldn’t jog any further, could barely even walk. I tried every other day for the next week, even reducing it to just speed walking sometimes. Never improved. End of that workout plan! 😣 I honestly don’t know how to get past the inflamed calves. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. 🙏

Thanks for this. I am lying in bed watching this, unable to move due to a disc issue. It's so disheartening. The first time it happened was after a 5 km park run. I have been out of action for months now and can't wait to move on. It's been a roller-coaster ride so far and for some reason it took a bad turn yesterday. And here's this video. Thanks!

CT scans have radiation equivalent to 300-600 regular X-rays. For anyone who wants to conform that, ask your favorite AI, youll be shocked. So I agree with what you stated about that in this video.

Ba2SO4 is a radiopaque agent. Magnetic Resonance Imaging has no mutagenic properties. It's basically quantum mechanics used for imaging.

I’m glad you’re better coach Morgan but honestly from the start of the video it screamed disc problems..what I honestly think is a great take from this video..and I’ve always believed..amateur/professional athletes know their bodies better than the average person - especially when it comes to pain…we know generally that it was our activities that caused the problem..your own instincts are the BEST place to start when it comes to diagnoses …the medical practitioners…especially if inexperienced..are diagnosing from a script..

"However, CT scans and X-rays use low doses-too low to damage eggs and sperm, even if the reproductive organs are directly exposed. In addition, there’s no evidence that low-dose radiation increases the risk of a miscarriage or birth defect." - American Health imaging "The amount of radiation used during a CT scan is considered minimal; therefore, the risk for radiation exposure is low." - Stanford medicine
@mikenielsen3971
@mikenielsen3971 4 күн бұрын
Spoon, wow you can google about ct scans. The amount of radiation on a CT will vary greatly based on how old the scanner is with newer ones tending to use less radiation. But in general if you are maximizing your health you don't want any CT scan for the radiation or the iodine contrast. Another reason, some doctors call for some test types rather than others what equipment they have in the hospital so they can keep the revenue in house. And yes, maximizing insurance amount for doctors / hospital income are a thing too. Unless you know the hospital and the insurance it might be difficult to guess why they call for one test over another.

If you were recovering, why would you sign up of that amount of races? Back busted, low energy, no period. And still doing a billion races. Dont blame the coaches or the doctors. Blame yourself
@TheRunExperience
@TheRunExperience 4 күн бұрын
I signed up for those races when I was still healthy or thinking I was. I would not have signed up for the races. Had I known I was dealing with low energy availability. I’m not blaming anybody but myself here I’m only mentioning that to get help and get what you really need so that you can start your healing journey. You need to advocate for yourself.

The insurance companies always want to do the cheapest thing first, hence the CT. Same thing with getting an x-ray of your knees, etc. before they will do an MRI.

Are you back to deadlifting? Another advice. Make sure you use your feet more when deadlifting or squatting. Funny thing to say to a runner right lol. When deadlifting or squats make sure 99% or 100% of the pressure is on your feet/leg never your back. Brace your core like your about to get hit and if you struggled to lift the weight then go lighter. It's better not to lift than lifting with poor technique. Stay strong and keep up the good work 👏
@steveco1800
@steveco1800 4 күн бұрын
I prefer single leg deadlifts with dumbbells. I think that way there’s more challenge for the glute and hamstring you’re working while less load on the back. The added challenge to balance and stabilise yourself is probably beneficial as well - feels good to do them barefoot.
@TheRunExperience
@TheRunExperience 4 күн бұрын
To be honest, I was trying to lift too heavy too soon. That was my true mistake. I think I let my ego get involved too much. I’m back to deadlifts but very lightweights and utilizing the single leg kickstand DL to start.

These tips feel really intuitive and i think i'm using most of them already in my runs. Everyone that is serious about pace should have realised that steep hills are just faster if you walk them. And leaning forward in climbs is also very intuitive my body does this automatically.

Strong suggestion I just learned this weekend: if it's hot, drink a lot at the aid station. Between the second and third stops, the sun got really hot and I ran out of water. Hindsight, I should have topped up completely at the water point part way between, and done the camel thing at stop 1.
