Great video. Just never toss your entire aft line to the attendant. Just toss enough to reach them, and they can pull in the rest. Don't make them untangle your aft line mess :)

The boats unfortunately work like hotels, per person sharing per night - and there aren't a lot of 2 people boats. That said, navigation is simple, plenty of stops, tie ups are easy, there's loads of help and as long as you pay attention to weather warnings, you have have to be dumb to get into trouble - . and what a lot of tourists miss.... day trips from towns if you map read... it's real easy to tie up the boat, leave early and get to places that cost 100's more if you'r trying to leave from Dublin or some city... the Shannon is a waterway through the country and you're seldom far from anywhere

We always rent the cheap ones. But we have learned, get the best you can afford. Cheap ones for example probably wont have heat unless you are at a marina. That is only one example. Look at the boat carefully before you select. Having said that, even if you were just floating on a log you would still have a great time! Good luck!

Yes, if you're brave Carrick northwards... through Enniskillen, but plan your journey with passengers in mind... weather is an issue, open water harder to navigate, some tie ups are noisy and arriving late leaves you less choice.. I love that one of the tie ups in Enniskillen is Tesco supermarkets car park .... leave early stop half way down... there's at least four tie ups that if you've shopped properly and prepared are silent, wonderful, the night sky and stars - spag bol and supermarket wine tastes like Michelean under those conditions.

"It was raining and now it is sunny". In Ireland, that would be known as a "tear and a smile". At least that's how my dear departed uncle would call it. As far as rain is concerned, if you don't like it, then Ireland is not the country for you! 😆

I want to comment on Med mooring by anchoring. Actually, it is very safe and easy. You should drop the anchor to the right spot; anchoring person should assist for this; then you should back up keeping the chain mildly tight all the time. This will act as a break and also keep your bow straight even in strong winds, you may not even need a bow truster. I want to emphasize that the person at the chain should be experienced and should give out enough chain not to disturb the aft movement..😊

Thank you very much for watching and for very useful comment! Usually only two of us on the boat. It is way we worry about med mooring. Thank you, again! Have a nice day.
@salimerdem7544
@salimerdem7544 9 ай бұрын
To elaborate a bit more with few more hints; the person at the anchor has a better view to have a straight line to the dock, therefore she/he has a better perspective to align the boat. So, she/he should assist the helmsman to position the boat and then drop the anchor. It is useful to let enough chain out to have the anchor on the ground and then start backing up. She/he should feel the tightness and should let out the chain in accordance with the speed of the boat. Once you are closer to the dock she/he can leave the anchor spot and come aft, to throw the moorning lines and fix the boat. You can keep the boat in position with small touches on the engine. Needless to state, just like you, I worry to get the boat alongside and sail from alongside with a single propellor boat. So, it is a way of getting use to.

Buenos Aires is not "The Latin City" as it were the only city in Latin America; mostly since Buenos Aires is considered the least latin city in Latin America... ¿Where should they place the trash containers then? You should have been better prepared and informed before travelling, so you could give a more complete perspective; not comparing eveything with your own city and consider that, if it's not like home, it's weird or odd. I suggest you to watch some of the many blogs and videos of foreigners traveling and/or living in Buenos aires or Argentina in general, just to have a vision from a cultural background similar to yours but with more experience and time in the country; they will enrich a lot your own experience by following their recommendations, tips and more to enjoy the best this country has to offer. Greetings

Thank you for watching and comment! Good luck! I know you will have a great time. But to sail solo will be not easy, of course. Lack of sleep is very tough. Get more fruit and vegetables. Some of the vegetables I kept in the fridge wrapping it in paper. Paper absorbs moisture and vegetables remains fresh longer. I will show it in my very last video about sailing. Thank you!

This vid just popped up in YT's suggestions list. We went to Croatia last June (from Zadar) and I think you're right on most things. A few details: In Germany and Austria, the week after Pentecost is a holiday week. That draws a lot of people to the Croatian coast. But that only goes for the first week of June or so. We never had to search for a mooring spot, although we tried to avoid marinas! A week without going ashore is our idea of fun. Careful planning and logistics are needed (supermarket). But the men collecting the mooring fee are always willing to take the trash (evening) and bring you fresh bread (morning). Croatia's attitude towards yachts is changing. We spotted signs that one could buy a designated coast area and turn it into a commercial mooring area. More moorings coming up in a few years. Marinas are indeed eyewatering expensive. And even more expensive in July and August. We live and sail in NW Europe. Prices of staying in NW European marina are less than 50% of the Croatian marinas. And there's only one price, no matter what month. Despite the fact that the cost of living in NW Europe is much higher. On the other side: for a lot of Croatian islands, the marina is the main source of income. Mooring on a buoy is something special in Croatia; as you showed in a scene, the lines from the boat to the mooring ball need to slip through the ring under the ball. It took us some time to figure out the easiest procedure for that! And when you come early, then watching other boats' mooring techniques is good for a lot of 'Hafenkino' (search for the translation...) which is part of the fun. I agree with your conclusion that Croatia is in the top #5 of Best Sailing Destinations. Certainly within Europe. It's better than Greece; we've sailed there since '97, but we're getting too old to untangle an anchor... or be worried about the ferry hammering into the harbour, making waves that push your boat transom on the concrete! (Don't ask...)
