You can use the free Capture One Fujifilm RAW Converter. It's the same as Express, they just removed some features. There is no tone curve, denoise or detailed color editing anymore, but it still works with anything else. You can use the built-in styles for more color options (Fujifilm sims are also available) and adjust them with the highlights, shadows, white balance, saturation, and so on. Just like you I tried different free apps, but none of them come close to how quickly and easy I can edit with Capture One, even this barebones version. I tried to do the same edit that took me 5 seconds in Capture One with Darktable and couldn't make the image work, it looked worse even after minutes of editing. Capture One, despite very limiting for colors, gets you to the desired result 99% of the time, for free.

I don't understand tight stereo
@jpr-tech
@jpr-tech 12 күн бұрын
Ok, let me explain. There are 4 mic capsules inside the metal netting. 2 facing the front of the mic and 2 facing backwards... so Tight Stereo only uses the 2 capsules in the front (L/R stereo) it is "tight", because compared to the WIDE STEREO setting that uses all 4 capsules. Which gives you a surrounding sound picking up the instruments behind the mic in full stereo. - Tight Stereo is good for speaking with clear voice and singing. It is so crispy clear, and due do the stereo recording it DOES MATTER where you stand in front of the mic. - FRONT is good for narrating and podcasting sound. It is NOT stereo, but still uses 2 mics on the front. The sound is deeper and lower than Tight Stereo. I hope I didn't make things worst. and this helps clear things out. In my personal experience I use FRONT mode in my Zoom calls (Loud and doesn't change with movement of my head) and TIGHT STEREO for recording music instruments and even on my KZfaq videos. (Sounds perfect straight out of the mic, NO Post editing needed).

@jpr-tech
@jpr-tech 13 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, you can ... sort of. Yes, you can playback your footage and delete individual clips ... but due to the files being so large (RAW videos) it won't play smoothly. It is literally 1 frame per second! 😅 On top of that, there is NO AUDIO in the play back, and it looks like a LOG clip (very muted colors). But at least you can see your framing!

I have a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro base model and a M1 Mac mini (8gb, 256 SSD) Experience on both is very similar, but the MacBook Pro does have a few more GPU cores and that double ram helps a lot... but the base M1 mini can work with MLV and Davinci just fine (just need a little bit more time, that's all).

Thanks for sharing, sorry to hear about your troubles. Could it be the different skin type and material that affected the texture of it. Mine was pretty stiff and easy to apply. No bubbles. Regardless, it is good to protect our expensive investment no matter what we stick on it. Cheers

Exporting in cDNG is exporting in raw (as raw from the camera) and none of the MLv settings have any effect on the raw data. If it did, then it wouldn't be raw anymore. Just a simply misunderstanding that some have regarding raw files/data. Cheers

@jpr-tech
@jpr-tech 25 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! It was shot in 30fps and the timeline was in 30fps as well. If you did want a 24fps timeline you'll have to set a custom timeline with 24p and then add your media. After that retime the media speed to 80% (slows down only 20%) but doesn't affect real time movement. This method makes the video look very smooth after exporting everything in 24P.

recording length/file size
@jpr-tech
@jpr-tech 25 күн бұрын
Yes, like the comment above said we do get more record time... but the biggest advantage that's also very important when it comes to the final look of your image is the field of view. 1080P doesn't suffer from the heavy crop such as the 1x1 & 1x3 modes have. The closest we can get is the 4.8K mode which adds bars on top and bottom (DCI aspect ratio) but the record time is severely affected making you lower the color bit rate to 11-bits or 12-bits with short record time. In 1080P only has a 1.6x crop, which basically gives you a true 35mm FOV. You'll be able to get closer to your subject with a nice prime such as a 22mm, 35mm or even a 50mm prime lens and blur the background really nicely. In reality I see PROS/CONS in all the different modes we have in Magic Lantern. In this video I just wanted to help folks out there that still use 1080P get the best image they can in that MODE. Thank you so much for your respectful question?

Thanks for watching! Davinci Resolve does have an iPad mobile app. It is very similar to the desktop version, but it's severely limited in features and plugins. But I was able to manage to import DNG Lossless clips and edit them on my old iPad Pro. Too much of a hassle, because at the end of the day I needed a PC/MAC to convert the ML files with the MLV app to DNG or ProRes files... So that pretty much makes the iPad useless, since I could just keep editing the video in Davinci Resolve in my laptop.

Does 1080 p crash too? On magic lantern or regular hardware? How's the 22 mm for stills and filming?
@jpr-tech
@jpr-tech 25 күн бұрын
Nope, 1080p rarely crashes, it is the most stable mode to shoot in, but also the most difficult due to the moire and aliasing. The 22mm packs a punch for both Stills and Videos. It is pretty sharp wide open, gets even better stopping down. It's very compact and light (even fits in a coat pocket). Also, the minimal close focus distance is underrated. But the only big CON with the 22mm is the focus ring. It is too narrow and the STM motor makes it very challenging to manually focus. When I use this lens (for both videos and stills) I use autofocus (NOT CONTINOUS) just focus on the area I want in focus and it locks after you start recording. So if your subjects moves in or out, you can not regain focus.

The 4:3 in the 1:1 crop mood does not use rhe whole sensor area. It has a huge crop (3.88l The open gate setup that i see in this build is the 3:3 crop 1080p 3:2 preset What am i missing? Cheers
@jpr-tech
@jpr-tech 25 күн бұрын
Sorry for the confusion. But you are correct! The 3:3 mode aka 1080P... the native resolution is in the 3:2 aspect ratio, but you can go into the "RAW video" settings go to the Q menu and then you'll be able to increase the resolution (from 1736x1158 to 1736x1160) by changing the aspect ratio to 4:3 (you literally get a couple more rows of pixels). 1x1 is the cleanest mode we can shoot in, but also at the cost of the suffering from the largest crop almost a x3 crop! YIKES!
