So refreshing to see a cabbie who doesn’t mind when the customer puts the Google maps on. I’ve been a cabbie here in London and in Hong Kong as well and I’ve heard stories from passengers about drivers not wanting to take their preferred route because “I’ve been doing it longer than you’ve been alive love” and getting stuck in traffic and the customer being a bit miffed. My philosophy is, your paying so even if you wanted to go around the M25 no problem sir whatever you say. Keep up the good work Ollie!

Thanks for your kind comments. Fully agree with you. “Preferred” route is preferred by me too. 👌

I'm confused by the title. Isn't it illegal anyway to broom a job that is within twelve miles of the centre of London and/or under an hour in duration?
@ALondonCabbie
@ALondonCabbie 3 күн бұрын
It’s not “illegal” but certainly can cause licensing issues (for repeat complaints) and rightly so. I was just highlighting that by not brooming a smaller job, a bigger one could always be just round the corner 👍

2:58 I don't know the layout of the boroughs in London but based on what Tom Hutton (the Taxi Driver) says on his channel about Camden, when you mentioned about the Pentonville Road bus lane, I immediatelt asked CoPilot if Pentonville Road was in Camden, which replied... yes it is.

Yep, Camden, Islington and Hackney (by far the worst to work in) Camden will feature a bit more than the other 2 as it covers a bit more of central London

Nice vids mate. Enjoy watching these taxi vids although my profession has nothing to do with it lol (accountant). Just a bit of feedback, the quiet time of you driving once you’ve covered the route, try fill it with some words, either history or the place, any nice food places, nearby attractions etc.

Just this week i had the worst punter in my career, and kept telling me using his google maps, the best way to Heathrow, an Aussie’s passengers first time in London. I knew he was going to be a problem, when he told me i was storing his luggage all wrong. I placed the luggage flat, he wanted standing on its wheels. Anything i said, he contractdicted.

The Doorman issue is all down to a cabbies sense of fair play.You can either put the meter on once hailed or wait until you see the whites of the customers eyes,which was my way.Personnal choice innit.
@ALondonCabbie
@ALondonCabbie 24 күн бұрын
Thanks for another kind comment. I always waited for customer to be seated before starting the meter but had it at the Kimpton Fitzroy a while back. Doorman hailed me, left me sitting there for well over 10 minutes waiting (while 3 separate customers asked if I was available) I then got cc legalled on a Euston. Since that day, if the doorman wants a cab, the meter goes on when spoken to. For me that’s the point of hire. Any other time, customer can chat at the window or ask “my ….. is coming now” I’ll wait without starting the meter
