What an incredible performance by Robert Hardy in his portrayal of an incredible man, Winston Churchill.

I had never seen this specific video, despite being a long time fan of Herr Ganz. You managed to make it very funny and very touching, all at once. Well done.

Irving Howe - whom Siegel considers such a great mentor and influence - would want absolutely nothing to do with Siegel today. Obviously, Howe would have absolutely despised Donald Trump - whom Siegel has enthusiastically endorsed - and probably considered him a fascist as his relentless opposition to Ronald Reagan (a left-wing democrat by comparison) makes clear. He would also have been appalled by Rudy Giuliani and the anti-black police brutality of the NYPD to whom Siegel has consistently been a boot-licking apologist for the past 3 decades. It is absolutely disgusting and immoral (basically libelous) for Siegel to still claim him as any kind of influence on his retrograde and fascistic outlook.

H.L. Mencken has never been considered a liberal by any remotely rational or sentient person - there is no evidence for his supposed "influence" on liberals and of course Siegel presents none - he simply makes polemical declarations and expects us to uncritically assent. And Richard Hofstadter was one of the greatest intellectual historians of the U.S. Siegel cannot hold a candle to his accomplishments and in the future will be quickly (and justifiably) forgotten.

I remember watching "Downfall" and finding it hard to believe I wasn't watching a documentary filmed in the "Bunker" in the 1940's. Ganz's performance was on a level the likes of which we will never see again. IMHO the best performance in ANY film EVER. RIP Mr. Bruno Ganz.

This great man's Churchill and Albert Finney's wonderful portrayal of Winston Churchill in The Gathering Storm... Which is better!? I am unable to decide. I love Robert Hardy. He is indeed the most brilliant actor. I wish were blessing us with his outstanding work.
