No need to change chip. If your car is the same model as mine and you have another key the same from a different car, then follow what I did and it will work. Good luck. John.

Hello, It carried on running fine for a year or so, then I was told that the floor had become quite thin due to rust and it wouldn't pass its next annual safety test, so I reluctantly traded it in for a new Corolla Touring hybrid, which is bloody brilliant by the way!

It is complete along with a couple of spare cells (I've changed them in the past - another vid of mine!). I ran it flat trying to start the car prior to finding out the problem was diesel in the tank (per this vid). It has sat in my garage ever since, so is a bit of an unknown state... I tried selling it on ebay, but they said I couldn't as I wasn't licenced to sell dangerous goods! I'm in Mid Wales by the way. As to the price...? No idea - make me an offer if you are interested. I know the individual cells are around £25 a piece, but like I said, they will need charging.

My 8 year old granddaughter figured out your problem right away. She pointed out that your steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car. We are surprised that you managed to get it to work at all!

Mine was a 2005, so I would expect it to work for at least that model run, which was 2003 to 2009 I think...

Program a Prius 2008 Silver Logo FOB- (Chicken Dance Simplified) Doug Smith revised 07-08-21 PROCEDURE 1: Starting the Prius Note: Procedure can be done with the windows rolled down. 1- Insert the OLD working fob into the slot, 5 times. Leave in Leave it in on the fifth time 2 - Open then CLOSE the driver's door 6 times. 3 - Remove the OLD fob from the slot. The Prius is now in fob programming mode. 4 - Insert the NEW fob and let it remain in the slot. Watch the blinking red light on the dashboard. (at least 2 minutes) When the light stops blinking and goes out, the new fob is programmed (for starting engine only, not the locks!) Remove the new fob. 5 - Open then CLOSE Door. (Test both fobs to ensure they work properly) PROCEDURE 2 Programming Door Lock/Unlock (Silver Logo Key Fob - must be New or renitialized at Dealer or Locksmith) 1 - Open door - leave open Open the unlocked Prius driver's door. (leave open with no fob in slot) 2 - Insert then REMOVE OLD fob twice Insert and remove the OLD fob into the dashboard slot 2 times within five seconds. 3 - Close then OPEN Door Twice Close then open the driver's door 2 times , 4 - Insert then REMOVE OLD fob once Insert and remove the OLD fob again 1 time. 5 - Close then OPEN Door Twice Close then open the driver's door again 2 times . Leave open. 6 - Insert OLD fob, then CLOSE the Door Insert the OLD fob in the slot again 1 time , and close the driver's door. 7 - Power off Button 3 times (no brake) , Press the power button 3 times (for 1-2 seconds each time pause a second between pressing Do that without pressing the brake pedal - Car turns off remove the OLD fob from the slot. 7.1 - Remove OLD Key from slot ... 8 - OLD Fob: Press and hold lock and unlock key simultaneously for 1.5 sec Open the door, exit the Prius, and The "add mode" is now engaged. (The Prius should automatically lock and unlock the doors twice to verify "add mode" is activated.) 9 - Repeat with new Key. HOLD down 2-3 seconds Press both buttons on NEW the fob simultaneously and hold both down for at least 2 secs. No sound or locking will happen. 10 - Immediately Press just the Lock Button on the New Key Within three seconds of releasing the buttons, press just the lock button. The Prius should respond by locking/unlocking the doors once. This verifies that the new fob is working. If it locks more than once, you may have a key that was programmed to another car and not reinitialized. Use a new key or get it reinitialized at the locksmith (avoid the dealers if possible) 11 - Open and Close Door Exit the programming mode by opening the door and closing the door or putting a fob in the slot. 12 - Test the lock unlock button of the NEW FOB Test the new key with the old Key out of range

Yes, this method made a completely functioning key for this car.

@@ProudDad1956 i can't get it to program with mine I get in programing mode but when I press the buttons on new key it doesn't register

@@marbesky Oh dear, you got me... All I can suggest is to try and find another key and do it again. Like I said, I bought a whole load before I found one that would take the programming. You can always sell them afterwards - I did and I made a profit! Good luck.

Thank you, it's working for the used ebay fob ( same model name) to start the prius 2005 but it will need another complicated programming porcess to make fob be able to remote lock and unlock the car (chicken dance).... which can be seen from some other videos& google search; ... i think if the used ebay fob can make first part work , the sec part should be ok too... mine is ok thanks good luck!

WOW. Ok, I need to ask a question, b/c the remedial stuff kills me every time. This business with the fob in/out door open/shut--does it reprogram the *fob* to match the electronic lock on the car, or does it reprogram the *car* to match the fob??? Not to be a negative pain, but I wonder why no one goes around stealing Priuses all day long like this. Again, remedial stuff, probably something I'm missing. Thanks in advance.
