So then, they're forced to utilize more bullet-based weapons like the MP7 and SPAS-12 that we saw in Half-Life 2 since normal bullets could take down a human anyway, with newer Pulse Rifles being made without Gene coding. Plus, it's also feasible that the Transhuman Army by Half-Life Alyx are pretty inflexible and only made to deal with containment of Xen wildlife. So at some point between Half-Life 2 and Alyx, the entire Transhuman Army was reorganized and simplified into how we saw them in Half-Life 2 with only the Soldiers and Elites. Some Grunts in that case would be transformed into normal Overwatch soldiers. Ordinals would be transformed into either Normal soldiers or Elites depending on their ranking. And Chargers and APFs would be transformed into normal Overwatch soldiers as well (Using SPAS-12s instead of MP7 and AR2).
