When you pulled the tables all apart; were there any adjustments, or places to put shims. Mine is high on both ends.

This is great KLR! I love this because the setup was straightforward, and I appreciated how customizable the settings are, allowing me to experiment and dial in the perfect parameters for the canvas texture. It's clear that each laser can behave differently, but with some testing and adjustments, I was able to achieve stunning results. I can’t wait to explore more projects with this machine! Highly recommend it for both beginners and seasoned users!

Good luck exploring the machine. It’s never ending learning, but a lot of fun!

Try applying titanium dioxide before engraving. Lots of YT videos showing how to do it.

I have absolutely no knowledge about this, but I want to get started on it. That's why I watch this video. Am I totally wrong if I think that an aluminum plate underneath will dissipate heat and prevent burn-through? Maybe you can burn harder without burning through. Just an idea, as I said, I have no idea what I'm talking about, or what will happen with an aluminum plate underneath. Maybe that makes it all a lot worse, I don't know. Thanks for the video. 🙂

It’s a fine balance or speed and power that just needs a lot of testing to really dial in a machine. None of our different lasers use the same settings.

Thank you , question if you hadn't moved it how would you go over it again? If you hit start will it go over it in the exact spot? or do you have to use the print and cut feature in lightburn? If that was the software you used Thank you

How do you know if the switch is bad? I bought 2 new ones (my dime after no response from Tech Support) for my 60W as well and have the machine tore apart as I type. Both of my switches light up. are in the exact same position as yours but 1) at startup, the head goes to home and starts jackhammering trying to go past the limit switches. Also, both of my switches get hit by something and lean over no matter how low I take them. If you get a Monport, prepare to be inside of it regularly.

On the wire channels you can push the cover to one side to release the other side then open the released side and remove the cover.

Hi I hope you got it working in the end, as it wasn't working well. My k40 ( more like k25 , its the mini one with 600mm tube ) will cut 3mm ply and 3mm mdf at 20mms at 13mA in 2 passes, if I slow down to 12mms it cuts in 1 pass.

NO NOT BUY A MONPORT LASER. They have NO support. There are 3 numbers listed on there Website as post sells support. NEITHER one number answers. Ever. You have to summit cases via an email link and WAIT. When, if, they contact you then it's a 24 email and wait. For days. If you have an urgent production issue like we did, you are screwed. We spent $1,000 on a CO2 laser and it's DEAD after a week when a runaway Z movement sent it into the honeycomb crunching the laser head. We are STILL waiting on Tech Support help over a week later.

Nice video guys. I started having constant stoppages every 3 minutes. So, followed your tips (except for the sock) and took the makita router out - opened it up and gave it a deep dust clean with a small air compressor, added 2 fat ferrite chokes to the makita power cord near the router itself. moved the hanging router power cord a little further away from the main drag chain and also flipped the router 180 degrees so the power cord now points away from the controller box & short drag chain. So far so good - just finished a 20min carve with no disconnect. I also find that making sure your computer doesn't sit idle for more than 10mins - essentially keeping the computer awake also helps. The way forward is to give the router a regular deep dust cleaning - monthly.

So I installed this board today exactly how you have. Lightburn begins to communicate... says Homing then nothing and steppers are hot AF. I fired up LASERGRBL and it works and is controllable (ignoring reverse Y axis)... But for the life of me cannot get lightburn to even add it or have it show up at all :(

You can do just Black or do a layer of white then black on top. We have done both at different times. Not sure on the smell we use an exhaust system.

My upgrade path matched yours only my K-40 came lightburn compatible. I really liked my k-40 but it was just to small. My diode laser was a total bust. The support was helpful but I just couldn't get it to work correctly. The Monport K-40 came with chiller that didn't increase the cost much. The 16x24 60w is a 100% win. It came with auto focus and I didn't need to adjust anything. I checked the Laser alignment and it was spot on. I love that machine very much.

Ooooh Weller! Great choice and in a proper Glencairn glass too. lol Lasers and whisky. I think we just became best friends 😋 Quick question about the laser. I see you just got yours but do you think you can fit a rotary in there. Spec's say 9.8". The 4 wheel rotary might work with a Glencairn but a 20oz tumbler? I want to buy that size laser but i'm worried about the Z height. Just found your channel. Sub'd! Thanks.
