Thank you for sharing, my miss is as I transition from the top down, my back shoulder raises up which promotes a over top move. To address this I now feel like I throughing a fast pitch underhand pitch. Where I feel my back shoulder rolling back and under. This allows me to create lag and snap (not the right term) through impact. Interested in your thoughts? Please be straight forward.
@MyGolfDNA17 сағат бұрын
When you look at the swing from a face on perspective, the trail shoulder should still be higher than the through transition. The trail shoulder will then start to work under as you mention as the hands and arms work down in front of the body into the release.

@MyGolfDNA4 күн бұрын
Not at all my point in the video. However, go look at the elbow position at p5-p7 on all of those players and you’ll see more of what I was talking about.
@noonespecial88914 күн бұрын
@@MyGolfDNA Because their elbow is in that position from p5 to p7 doesn't mean it was there p2-p4. Go throw a baseball with your elbow in this position and see how ridiculous you feel.
@MyGolfDNA4 күн бұрын
I didn’t say that it was! I was talking about the position of the elbow on the way down mostly. If you want to just be argumentative, then watch the video and see what im talking about. If you want to teach people to internally rotate their shoulder in the downward half to put the elbow in a bad place then go ahead. I’d like to keep my golfers safe. Not chase the best players of their eras. There is very little stress being put on the trail elbow in the backswing. So if it’s flared out away from the body like the legends that you speak up, thats fine…But watch really really closely what happens in the downswing.

@MyGolfDNA Wow, Jace is right, Rory does have great elbows! Love this video, as I'm working on my drills (widening the backswing, stacking the trail ankle), I was curious how I would transition from the trail to the lead side. It felt obvious but this video confirmed its simply transitioning the pressure to that lead ankle and posting the leg. Trying not to get ahead of myself, Chris. Keep these coming, I love them. 🤟

I am one of those right knee forward shankers. When I’m loosing focus or with pressure it will sometimes creep up once a round. Is there a drill to practice keeping that right knee back? Do you think placing an alignment rod in front of the knee could work?
@MyGolfDNA7 күн бұрын
An alignment rod could work. Just make sure it’s not too high. I’m working on coming up with setup to combat the knee moving in that people can see and feel on the range. Will report back once I get something that works.

As a low single-digit handicapper, I've played very good golf for 30 years, but never felt my swing was quite right. I've watched thousands of you tube videos and taken numerous private lessons, and still, when I videoed my swing, didn't like what I saw. That was until I tried this drill. My two biggest faults were an early release, and failure to post up on my left side. This drill corrected both of those almost immediately. For whatever reason, I found it very easy to adapt this drill into my swing, and often practice it before hitting my shots on the course. Some new swing thoughts seem to last for a round on two and then quit working, but not this one, and I plan to stick with it for a long, long time. Thanks, Chris.

@MyGolfDNA Great one Chris, right up my ally. As I've worked to stack my trail ankle I started to relax the toes on that foot, which has them rising up slightly in the shoe. I feel greater force in the ankle and heel driving into the ground. Is this where I want to go? It doesn't cause tension and my trail leg maintains a nice flex. Thank you sir!

Thank you good sir!!! YES, that is definitely what we're looking for and where you NEED to go:) Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Very good drill to focus on the most important aspects of a solid golf swing. I found that shifting my weight was a bit of a challenge. It helped when I forced pressure on the inside of my trail foot at takeaway as a means of more easily shifting my weight to the lead side. Also found that letting the lead arm take the lead on the downswing helped me let the club take over through the downswing, as I tend to muscle through shots with my trail arm.
@edwarddougherty22112 күн бұрын
It’s interesting how important the first three feet of movement are important to keep the club on plane. I do have a follow up question: does the rotation of the shoulders drive the rotation of the hips? So in initiation of the swing the shoulders start the movement with a slight delay of hip rotation. In doing this drill with a club my mantra is “hands in, club out” Thanks for your videos.
@MyGolfDNA12 күн бұрын
It's definitely important to get the body started in the right order. So many people get the swing started from a hand and arm function and it really makes it hard to sequence the rest of the swing shape. The rotation of your core should be responsible for rotating the shoulders and hips really. In some cases I will teach people to "feel" the trail shoulder pulling up and behind the head but in most cases I want people to feel the core doing so. Hope that helps and thank you for the support:)
@edwarddougherty22112 күн бұрын
Thank you for such a fast response. On my part, and guess many others, this first move is easier to achieve hitting the irons. Putting the driver in my hands my tenacity was to get too flat most probably because of the length of the shaft. I’ve been working using video feedback to insure the club stays on plane focusing on the first three feet. I’m fining scaling up to full speed that’s time to repeat the desired sequence. Thanks again for your great insights.
@MyGolfDNA11 күн бұрын
My pleasure. The driver definitely gets harder for some because the spine is most upright from the length of the club. Happy to hear you’re being disciplined in the process and scaling things up slowly. Stay focused and you’ll get there sooner than later.

Question: I feel like my head and body move forward along with the follow through. I can't tell what your head is doing or where it should be because you turn and look at the club. Where should the head and body be at the 3 o'clock position. Ive heard they should stay behind the ball. Is this correct?
@MyGolfDNA12 күн бұрын
I usually want the head staying back and looking where the ball was until the hands past above belt high on the lead side of the body. Then I like the head to begin to swivel as you move up an out of posture into a finish position. It can be a fraction earlier or later but is dependent on some of the factors the student brings to the table. Hope that helps.

Adam Scott, of course! Interesting comment about Adam's trail ankle. Do I understand your comment correctly, that the weight over his stacked ankle transitions into his instep? I've been practicing stacking that trail ankle this week. You're correct, it isn't a sway or a slide and I now know that sensation very well. Look forward to those other videos you referenced. 🤟

Good choice and yep, you understood correctly with the ankle! The ankle and the femur will help get the movement started. The first video will talk about how to loading that side properly and the second will show you how to get off that side properly. Interested to hear your thoughts they release:)

I have never had lessons but played with a club Pro one day. He told me after about 5 holes stop thinking about everything, except for putting your right elbow in your right pocket on the down swing. I'm right handed. I instantly starting hitting the ball further and straighter every iron shot, from that day forward. Sometimes the simplest if things will change your game for the better. Great video! Thanks for sharing,I'll check out more of your videos.
