Awesome aircraft. I saw Typhoons at one of the last airshows at RAF Leucheurs, and was absolutely memorised. - and, despite receiving this video for whatever reason youtube decided, I'm not particularly a fast jet geek. But the Typhoons were stunning. They are like little flying blades. They turn, rise and descend so quickly I wondered how anyone inside could possibly survive. Thwre were three if them together, and it was like seeing three cursor arrows in the sky controlled by someone waving a mouse around in all directions. I was also surprised by how quiet they are when they're not being flown in anger. During another part of the flying display, whilst our attention was focusd on scanning the air, one of the three Typhoons taxied onto the runway and took off using half the runway with barely a whisper. It came back a half hour or so later and within about six seconds was quietly taxiing off a side exit with three quarters of the runway untouched. If the commentator hadn't mentioned to look out for it as it came in we would never have noticed it. Thanks for the vid.

Very sad about the crash recently where the pilot died. All Spitfires are now grounded and perhaps they should remain so. However, if a Spitfire replica were designed and built from scratch using modern construction and materials along with modern avionics and redundant controls (even an ejector seat and tail mounted parachute) then perhaps a fleet could be built for displays and films etc... even full scale RC versions. If the engine were electric then an in plane mounted loud speaker at high volume could play the sound of the merlin engine. It would be expensive but I am sure there is a billionaire out their who would like to fund it.

Did they clip the wings on many spitfires?
@rollsroycemerlin4321
@rollsroycemerlin4321 2 ай бұрын
They did to some of the following: mk 5, Mk 9, Mk12 (think they all had clipped wings and a griffon engine) and Mk14, probably more. It improves the roll rate (but tends to rather wreck the beautiful visual aesthetics).

??? This aircraft is the original prototype Hawker Fury being known at the time as the Tempest 2 as you can see from the P suffix and its chrome yellow under surfaces applied to all British prototype military aircraft. sadly when this aircraft first flew the war was all but over and the RAF cancelled its large order for the type as they had by then begun taking meteor and venom deliveries, it was then saved from cancellation by an order from the fleet air arm to equip carriers and was duly navalised and being renamed the Sea Fury. and if I am not mistaken was the first piston engined fighter to bring down a Mig 15 in a dog fight in the Korean war, but what exactly do you mean by the "shaved version" do you mean the heavily cut down fuselages on some reno racers ???

That is a Merlin engined Spitfire MkIXc not a Griffon engined MkXVI. It is painted in the colours of Lt. Robert Connor of the 309th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group in Sicily during 1944. She carries the name “Porky II”. Her nose art, depicting the cartoon character Porky Pig, is a reference to Lt Connor's squadron nickname of ‘Porky’. It performs at U.K. airshows and is known as “The Suffolk Spitfire”.

"What a shame the last Lancaster bomber ever made was restored by a bunch of dedicated ex-servicemen who actually we're crew on it when in service. Flown to England from Australia and given with respect to the museum where it was gutted and placed in a children's playground". Author of "The Last Lanc'" Sir Patric Kilvinton. 1997.

No. The Cavity Magnetron, The VR fuze, The Atomic bombs, the B17, the Merlin, HF-DF, The Bombe at Bletchley Park, were all inventions that guaranteed Germany and Japan losing the war! Germany wasted its resources on vaniy projects like the 262, V1, V2, V3, Tigers and King tigers....all useless in the end😂
