Bix much like Chet Baker who came two decades later, could never turn down a good drink or good song to calm the pains of musical genius and the madness of a profession that takes you ultimately down to the bitter road of decadence and death. Bix once said " I never feel the same way twice." regarding his attention to the melodies he often played. He also remarked " I go to hell to hear a good band play." His legacy and life ended way to soon.
