FYI mortal men, clamp the vise grips on the flat half of the rail, not the curved part and possibly distort the track.

I have the same damage on the outside of my garage door here in Hawaii. Except it went one step further and actually TORE part of the panel and left about a three inch crack. I got this however from constantly manually opening and closing the garage door due to a broken garage door opener. I am replacing the opener, but is there any way to fix that crack on the outside? I'm assuming since the new garage door opener will be opening/closing the garage door, it won't have that pressure anymore in the middle from manually opening and closing it, so it shouldn't get any worse. But the garage door installer is telling me I need to replace the whole door, and that since there is damage, he won't even warranty the new garage door opener he is installing.

The old school little giant collapsing ladders can hold up to or over 400lbs if you can get the door open even momentarily and get the ladder up under it you can get the door wedged open from the side. I remember when one of our springs and the operator broke and I as a 12 year old kid had to open the door by hand, that was a fun week.

Nicely done bro. the other day I was with my friends and worked on installing garage doors and the small one had 6 panels, was approximately 8 x 16 and 240 lbs, we hadn't put the springs or cables on yet and I was able to completely lift that door dead weight.
@dericscott4577 Жыл бұрын
Boom! Now that’s a real Savage right there. :-) Good on you!
You pulled the cord to unlock the door. I can't figure out how to unlock it. I now know why it was impossible to lift it's because it's locked.

We have a 12' storm rated door. Both cables snapped when we bumped the edge of the door putting the RV inside. Now the RV is trapped with mere inches between it and the door. Worse, the width of the RV is so that there's only about 2 feet that anyone can get in on either side. Garage door guy guessed it's about a 500 pound door. NOW what do you recommend? Definitely need some ideas. Thank you!

Sadly I would say on face value, no. It would likely be considered “Act of God” not wear and tear. Sorry but you might give it a shot. Cost wise, it should only be about $100-$250 depending on your part of the country. All the best :-)
@davidandrews80072 жыл бұрын
You may have to loosen the top rollers and pull back. The door could hit the drywall. The door opener pulls the top panel back. Push on the top roller.

Appreciate your video. Yours confirmed what I thought was the problem (capacitor). Unfortunately, replaced the capacitor and still have that buzzing/humming sound. Any other thoughts? I am not in Cali, but do you have any suggestions for a good repair man in NM (Albuquerque, specifically) to come and take a look at it. 20 year old unit, and I certainly don't want to have to buy a new one, especially as we are looking to sell this house in the near future. Thanks in advance for any aid.

@@charlescollins4757 I called Genie and they stated that as I had replaced the capacitor it may be a circuit board issue. My replacement costs about $70.00. Looking for other help before buying the circuit board. It may be the problem, it may not. Maybe it's time to replace the whole unit?! Any thoughts?
@aqualitygaragedoor63662 жыл бұрын
After actually reading it twice, the sad truth is if after trying a capacitor, likely the motor has cycled out at end life. Generally what happens is the bell housing that holds the motor shaft wears away so much that the motor servos are now rubbing against the rotators. When that happens nothing can save it, with all of the fragments inside that motor are not worth the trouble at this point. Sorry for the bad news, and I apologize that I do not have a contact in New Mexico that could help. I do wish you the best.

Most important part for me was how to unlatch the garage door opener with that red handle and your flew past that and never went back to it. I watched for five minutes before I realized that you weren’t going to talk about that red handle 🥴
@aqualitygaragedoor63662 жыл бұрын
So sorry, in most cases, you only need to pull strait down to release. Sometimes, it’s reconnecting that is sometimes more difficult.

How's the Linear 801 with a belt drive?
@aqualitygaragedoor63662 жыл бұрын
Exactly the same, maybe with a firmware update because there are no added features that I could see to the machine or the wall station. Even the photo optic sensors are the same design. Good news is, it’s just as reliable!
