Though personally, I can’t say his name without using the moniker the Ancient Egyptians used, “The Traitor Akhenaten.” It’s certainly true that the Ancient Egyptians had a concept of a universal creator god. As they at times used the term “god” and “gods” interchangeably. But I think that what needs to be stressed is that the Egyptians, like other ancient cultures, didn’t have much of a problem in believing in multiple truths. This is a kingdom where each town had their own gods and mythologies, and yet never tore itself apart over the multitude of beliefs. It’s telling that Amarna was abandoned after the reign of The Traitor Akhenaten.
