This recipe is delicious. Never thought my french press can do that. Only one thing though, that coffee becomes slightly cold in the process. Since I had to use same press for milk and brewing. None the less, thank you so much.

I was a bit skeptical at first but had some extra time today & decided to try it out. It worked perfectly! The milk got really foamy + the coffee component was quite strong. I did add an extra 50 ml of water so that I wouldn't have to plunge so far to get all the liquid out (at least for me the last bit can be rather slimy). Thanks for the great recipe/tutorial! :)

Nice video. I have the same one and find it difficult to get the spent leaves out after emptying the bottle. Tea leaves are not good for the disposal or plumbing so I don’t want to just wash them down the sink. I drink a full bottle per day. I can dump some into my compost bin but quite a few of the leaves stick to the inside of the bottle. Any suggestions?

@photina78
@photina78 11 ай бұрын
The Moka wasn't designed to make crema, but the Brikka makes a lot of crema. I love my 2 cup Bialetti Brikka! But you must follow the Bialetti instructions to the letter for it to work. Use the enclosed measuring cup for the water, a medium electric stove, and take it off the stove as soon as you see steam and the crema stream is established. It will finish brewing off the stove.

Just got a new Mocamaster. Its important to realize their10 cup measurement in the water tank is actually 5.28 cups. This comes into play when selecting the amount of coffee grinds. Adding grinds for 10 cups instead of 5.28 was the problem. We could not figure out why the coffee was so strong. I guess european cups are smaller.

I purchased a small bag of organic coffee (ground). I am confused why the bag has a tiny intentional hole from the manufacturer...I thought coffee was supposed to be air tight... Please help...Not a coffee expert...
@CremaCoffeeGarage
@CremaCoffeeGarage Жыл бұрын
Hi Elle, Thank you for watching and commenting with your coffee question. We would guess that the hole you are referring to is most likely the 'freshness valve'. This is a one-way valve that keeps the outside air 'out', therefore keeping your coffee fresher for longer. But it also lets air out of the inside of the coffee bag. When coffee is still fresh, it lets off natural gases that it needs to escape in order to 'degas'. This valve allows this to happen without letting any air back into the bag. We hope this helps answer your question. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to comment! Happy Brewing from the Crema Coffee Crew :)

I have the Moccamaster that has the 3 setting adustable brew basket with the Round Bottom. With the Round bottomed basket you can easily swivel the basket back and forth into a number of different positions so that the water disperses over all the grounds. I keep the lid off in the beginning and watch the water cover all the grounds as I am doing so, slowly swiveling back and forth until all the grounds are covered. I then take a spoon and very gently push the water over all the grounds. I don't stir as this may clog the filter or over extract. You can also very gently push any grounds off the sides of the filter into the rest of the grounds. All this takes about a minute. Then put the lid back on and let it go. You can also periodicly swivel the basket into various positions at this point. Not a big deal since the brewing proces takes only about 6 minutes or less. After the water reservoir has emptied, you can then very gently rock or gyrate the basket for a second or two and then very gently pick up the basket and tap the bottom against the base a few times just like when doing a pour over. All this is not really necessary as simply swiveling the basket back and forth for the first minute to make sure all the grounds are covered and then maybe just change the positons a few times during the rest of the brew cycle tends to do the trick. This can't be done this way with the square bottomed brew basket.

I’m tossing up between this and the moccamaster. I have a couple of other Breville appliances and love them, but I really want to set up the coffee maker at night and tell Siri to make my coffee when I wake up (I understand freshly ground is better, but I’m willing to sacrifice that flavour to have coffee ready as soon as I get up - unless you can recommend something in this price range that will grind as well) The delay start feature won’t work for me as I have whacky sleep patterns and never know what time I will go to sleep or wake up. Even if I set it as I’m going to bed, I might sleep for 6 hours or I might sleep for 11 hours. There’s no way to know. I could use a switchbot button pusher to press the start button when I wake up, but I need to know which setting would be the default and be the one I get if I just press start rather than select things. My Breville microwave and bread maker will both do something if I just press start and this seems to be the same operating system so surely this will too. One more question. Does cold brew then get heated when it goes into the carafe or is it just cold? If it’s heated that might be another option but I can’t stand cold coffee and really don’t want to microwave it. The moccamaster would definitely be easier to automate but oh it’s so very ugly! It looks like it belongs in a workshop. Even the different colours don’t make it pretty. The Breville is gorgeous and would make me smile every time I look at it, just like my microwave and bread maker do. Btw, thank you for a wonderful review. It’s the best I’ve seen!

@@CremaCoffeeGarage yes I have! It looks beautiful on my bench and the coffee is wonderful. I’m using the gold setting for now. When I wake up I run the shortcut then have cuddles with my dog as it brews. It’s fabulous! Thanks so much for the help over the phone, and for sending it so quickly. Hi Yuvraj, Thank you for watching & commenting with your question. The best alcohol to use for burning/heating your syphon coffee would be Ethanol or Denatured alcohol. Both of these produce little to no smell or soot. Avoid using isopropyl alcohol, as it produces a sooty, malodorous flame that is less hot than denatured alcohol. We hope this has helped answer your question. Happy brewing from the Crema Crew ☕

Was hoping to see more detail about using the Over Ice mode and pourover mode with pourover set to OFF as well as in ON using the adapter. Also, do settings made in the MY BREW menu affect any other modes such as changing the brew temp or the bloom time? I realize the Gold mode probably returns the machine to the default SCA settings but what about the STRONG or OVER ICE, and FAST modes? The manual does not address any of these very specific details and Breville's customer service, as per usual, are not helpful at all. Breville apparently just pulls people off the street to answer phones and gives them a script (probably an electronic pdf) to search for FAQ and they don't bother to teach them anything about brewing coffee or how their machines work.
@CremaCoffeeGarage
@CremaCoffeeGarage Жыл бұрын
Hi George, Thank you for watching & for commenting with your question. Apologies, we do not have any footage of the OVER ICE Mode or more footage of the POUR-OVER mode, only what is already in the video. However, what we can tell you about the way this mode prepares the coffee, is that it is obviously tailored towards the smaller 1-2 cups for an individual. This mode also mimics the times that you find in the manual preparation of pour-over (see our video here: bit.ly/3RUDE1i). An initial bloom for 30 seconds, followed by two separate pours for an allotted time each & a break in between to allow the liquid to drain & avoid overflow. What we can comment on is that the automated version of this brew method will never be able to full replicate that of a traditional, manual pour-over method, as you are unable to mimic the style of pour that you will see in the video and this affects the saturation & therefore flavour development of the coffee. The settings in the 'My Brew' section only pertain to that setting. Any other setting will have its own pre-set parameters, especially when it comes to temperature and time. For example the STRONG coffee setting, you will still use the same quantity of coffee & water that you would for the MY BREW or GOLD setting for example, but the brewer will take longer to brew as it will steep longer to create that depth of strength. The OVER ICE setting is relying on you as the user to adapt the recipe as per the instructions, to create a stronger brew, with double the amount of coffee and less than the normal amount of water. This creates a stronger brew that you will then dilute with water or milk once chilled. More concentrated than your typical filter batch of coffee. FAST mode is, as the name would imply the fastest mode available. Brewing up to 12 cups (1.8L) as fast as the brewer can deliver the water in the tank. It is for this reason that this batch will have the lightest flavour and be a lot closer consistency-wise to a pour-over or Chemex, as the water is passing through the coffee at a faster rate than the MY BREW or GOLD settings. We hope this has helped bring a bit more clarity to your questions on this product. We do highly recommend this product for batch brewing specifically and the extra features are simply a bonus and drawing card for those tossing up between different filter coffee makers. Please feel free to comment with any more thoughts or questions you may have! Always happy to help! Happy Brewing from the Crema Coffee Crew! ☕

@CremaCoffeeGarage

Hi Nadav, Thank you for watching and commenting with your question. Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your first brew. We would recommend experimenting with the recipe to suit your personal preference. Obviously, you can't go any higher with your water capacity, therefore we recommend increasing the coffee quantity to increase the strength. Start with increasing to say 100g and see how you like it. We really don't recommend brewing the coffee for any longer than 18 hours, that is more than enough time to fully extract everything you can from the coffee. You also can periodically throughout the brew time, open the lid and give the grinds a slight stir and the water a swirl to ensure a fuller extraction. We do highly recommend using coffee beans that are no older than 6 weeks old (from roast date) and ideally you would be grinding your coffee right before you brew it. We hope this has helped and don't hesitate to reach out if you experience any other questions :) Happy Brewing from the Crema Crew ☕

Hi Mark, Thank you for watching & commenting with your question. It would always come down to the individual model that you are looking at, but most/if not all of the domestic models of machines that we sell at Crema, that have a rotary pump, can either be run off a water tank or you can plumb them into a water source. Giving the user an option. Just ensure you look into that for your specific model. We hope this has helped. Feel free to comment with any further questions you may have. Two tips. Firstly, the quality of the bean quality is the single biggest factor in making a delicious coffee. Every now and then I'll splash out on some Panama Esmeralda Geisha (honestly, it's expensive but try it once) and it's almost impossible to brew it badly, it's like the bean won't let you. Secondly, when using an Aeropress the rule of thumb is stop plunging as soon as you hear it hiss, the coffee coming out from squeezing the shit out of your grounds will be over-extracted and just add bitterness.

Hi there, Thank you for watching and commenting with your question. Initially, you want to give the roaster around 30mins to get to your drop in temperature and be stable. You can roast back-to-back batches, as it is able to start reheating while you are cooling the last batch you have roasted. Rest time in-between batches is up to the operator, but you would be looking at a minimum of 3-5mins between batches. Ailio themselves recommend a monthly capacity of 100kg. We hope this has helped answer your question. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to comment. Happy Brewing from the Crema Coffee Crew ☕

Looking at the blog that links to this video you have: 250 g coffee to 1000g water, so 1:4 ratio 350 g coffee to 1600g water, so 1:4.7 ratio. Shouldnt that be 400g to 1600?
@CremaCoffeeGarage
@CremaCoffeeGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Allan, Thank you for watching and commenting with your question. We purposely provide two options for ratios for people to experiment with and choose their preferred result. The first ratio of 1:4 is what we at Crema recommend when making your toddy as that is the method we have found that provides the most delicious and full-bodied result. However, the manufacturer of the Toddy themselves provides slightly different ratios, not too dissimilar to the second option of 350g coffee :1600g water. So we are simply providing two options for you to experiment with and you can of course land on your favourite. We hope this has helped clear some things up and apologies for the confusion. Can you make a single 12oz cup of coffee with this particular Moccamaster Thermal Brewer?
@CremaCoffeeGarage

Hi Sharon, Thank you for watching and commenting! According to the manual for the Thermal Moccamaster, the minimum amount of water that you can fill the tank with is a 1/4Litre (250ml). A 12oz cup is the equivalent of 354mls, so you can most definitely make a single 12oz cup with this brewer. You just need to ensure you follow the manual's instructions on how to brew the smaller batches.
