It would have been better if you did each board individually that way you could get each side, especially the end grain sides. I, personally, would have done two coats with a week of dry time in between and stain it as well. Need to also protect it against UV, which is what affects everything. It degrades the effectiveness of the sealer, then starts the decaying of the wood.

It's okay, I'll do it when I have to eventually replace boards

Question: my nephews bmx 20inch bike has the bars on the front and back(your daughter’s has just the front ones) now he’s still learning to ride without training wheels but grow out of his old one and isn’t used to the new one yet. Can those training wheels you bought or any others still be used for those kind of bikes? Like is there a way to remove the rear bars to install them or can they install with the bars attached on the bike or no?
@AdrianaBanauna Жыл бұрын
@Dwayne Delacruz
@DwayneDelacruz Жыл бұрын
The way these training wheels are made, the Pegs wouldn't be able to install flat if you put them over the training wheels. So you'd have to remove the back Pegs to install the training wheels...these training wheels aren't really that well built, I think they were ment for smaller bikes, but once you find the right size training wheels; you can remove the back Pegs and install your training wheels. Here's how to take the Pegs off. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8tjrNKk0p2lmX0.html

Thanks Dwayne. Really helpful. I think I would be tempted to waterproof the boards before I fitted them so that they would be sealed on the edges and the bottom, but in fairness - the boards might already have been fitted when you acquired the trailer. In that case - I guess I would have done the same as you. I think in time water spray from driving in wet conditions will ingress into the wood from underneath and some water might seep into the wood from the sides of the boards if it drips down from the top surface.
@DwayneDelacruz Жыл бұрын
You have a very valid point brother. I wish I could've sprayed all around the boards individually

@@DwayneDelacruz Thanks. It’s all about learning for everyone. Every day is a school day as the saying goes. In any case - it only came to mind because I’m about to work on some decking but have the luxury of being able to treat the boards before fitting them.

Story time - so I’m not paid by anybody but here we go. Bought the $hit and here we are trying to put it together and to be completely honest not so hard. Problem is that when I put the training wheels on, the front brake doesn’t stop the wheel. so I guess good luck kid. Watch all the videos, try to figure out what I was doing wrong, and come up with nothing. this is not a complex problem nor something that is unforeseeable. Instead what I get is “don’t worry, we thought of this and when they’re moving, it’ll totally stop.” Tested that one and hard no. so, I’m just another guy trying to put together a kids bike. Annoyed with the most foreseeable issues someone can have. Merry f Christmas.

Cool demo man, hey I am no expert but shouldn't that decking have a 1/16 or even an 1/8 gap between the boards for water to run off or no?
@UNITED200910010 ай бұрын
I just installed new pine construction 2 X 6's in my trailer. I put in the first board and used screws from the under side. They placed in the second board with heavy glue on the edge. Used a furniture clamp to pull it tight to the first board and again used screws from the under side. Did my entire trailer that way. Absolutely no void between each board. The boards were Thompson Water Sealed before I put them in and then applied a second coat the top of the deck after completely the install of all new wood sides. Everything is now coated with Thompson Water Seal. looks great and now I shall see if it will last or not, Water appears to repel off everything. Yes, it cannot run off in between the deck boards because they are all glued together. So far so good with regular construction grade #2 pine. Got boards at Home Depot as their lumber looked real good. Treated lumber is not the best grade and is usually not uniform in thickness. Thats why I choose to use the pine.
