Texas is “slightly” heavier up in the middle on tje DL but don’t have a weight advantage nor height advantage on the ends especially when you also look at the 2 deep. We aren’t smaller up the middle really looking at the 2 deep up the middle. We are about the same size at LB. Taller but obviously Kip is a little smaller by about 10 lbs from UT’s starting LB. We are bigger in the defensive backfield. Taller, lengthier etc. physicality? No way will or is Texas a more physical team. Offensively they definitely have better size if you are looking at weight only but again not by much. Technique,effort playing I. Sync etc is a much bigger advantage that just being heavy is. How well a guy moves his feet, how fast is when he pulls, how strong are the TE’s. Which we have advantage there. We have advantage in the wr room and the depth. We have beater running backs and we have a more talented QB that is just young and I experienced but there is no question he is more talented than Ewers. It will be another good matchup and the sec Gods gave them a much easier schedule but I would rather matchup all year against the top teams and knowing how we measure up than pretending we are so good because we beat up on a lot of teams not as talented. I feel good about where we are and we still are up 11-4 in the series over the last 15 years so betting on Oklahoma is the safe bet until they aren’t.

That Jackson v. Arizona shouldn’t count against him because that OL was basically the 2nd string as OU had many starters declaring for the draft.

I just got back from a trip to Knoxville TN. Driving through northern Mississippi and Alabama, up into Chattanooga we noticed many SEC football banners going up. Sure some of them were last years team banners. Not all of them. Some had Texas Longhorns banners. Not one OU banner among any of them. Having lived in northern Alabama for three years I understand the mindset of the CFB fans in that area. They’re generally well versed in this subject. This is painting with a broad brush but these are subjects I’ve witnessed openly discussed on numerous occasions where everyone agreed time and time again. That being,”everything is bigger and better in Texas”. They tend to share that mindset. They can recount the times that Texas has beaten them going way back. Couldn’t tell you the first thing about OU or what the Sooners have done. The Deep South has no clue about the historical record between OU and Texas. If they do it will be the overall and not over the last 25 years. The 17-8 record means nothing to them. They simply will not look at it. I for one like the fact that they’re dismissing our team. It keeps the rat poison at bay. I have a good feeling this is going to serve up some severe consequences to upcoming opponents. I just hope that after week 4 the same sentiments are being shared. Fact is we will have done nothing until after all of them are defeated. I hope that every OU victory is discounted as sheer poor performance by their opponents. You mention # of players being pre season ranked. But that is just that a guess of where the talent could be. Having names not on a list mean absolutely nothing when it comes to playing. Shoot go look at last year and see what happened at the OUvUT game. It is only going to be better this year, same as it will get better next year. Also to prove my point, FSU was pre season ranked 10 and lost to a middle of the road predicted GT based on record. Rankings mean nothing until the end of the year

Ewers is the biggest question. Texas had 3 big games last year and lost two of them. Ewers gave up the ball 3 times vs OU that lost them the game. Ewers couldn't beat the 119th ranked pass defense when it mattered the most against Washington. September 7 will tell us a LOT about this Texas team.
