Indian Larry was a HUGE HUGE influence on me as a kid. I was a teenager when he was on TV building bikes. I owe it to him for my taste in bike styling, and I own him probably for how I ended up not being a drug addict and alcoholic. He's such a positive and wholesome guy, but the most important thing he ever said for me, was when they did the interview on TV during Biker Build of where he talked about quitting drinking. He said he doesnt smoke he doesnt drink, and it gave him a better life. Seeing that from someone I respected and admired so much, mattered more than any parent or church leader or anything like that. Made me want to keep away from drugs and booze. As a result, despite having lived such a very difficult life and spent a lot of time on the streets, I never ended up a drug addict or Alcoholic. And I believe I owe that man the credit for that. If I could meet him, I'd thank him. We lost a real living Legend when he died.

Great video right up until you said they're known for "high torque and neck snapping power" "getting someone off the line" is exactly what will happen when you whack the throttle, which by the way Harley's have always been known for. They are like freight trains they'll take you off the line and then lose in the middle until that freight train starts to come alive then you better be hanging on for dear life!! And EVERY Harley Davidson is woefully undepowered when it comes to "stopping power"!! They all should have dual discs up front and at a minimum a 300 mm single disc in the back.There is no "overkill" when it comes to braking!!

Absolutely not true. A fat boy is a fat boy because the overall width of the bike is wider than other bikes like it. It is not because of tire width. Yes the tires are wider than most bikes, but so is the entire bike.

Ok, I’ll bite. What makes the Fatboy wider than other bikes? The frame, front end and fenders are wide to accommodate fatter tires. Perhaps I’m missing something else?

I had a 2016 Fat Boy S that was all blacked out with the denim black paint. I think that’s one of the better looking Fat Boy’s and Harley’s ever made for that matter. Sold her to move up to a Road King Special for the storage space/touring capability. As a Road King owner I am also upset that it’s 30th is going by without a peep from Harley. They are all about the performance baggers, street and road glides, so won’t be surprised if they overlook all the other models for the foreseeable future. The Road King is also one of the best looking, most iconic bikes so hate to see it forgotten like it has been. I don’t want to be married to a fairing and be the 100th street or road glide to pull up to bike night.
@canadiansa1nt3096 күн бұрын
Yep, Harley is putting a lot of backing behind the “glides”. It’s a shame they’re overlooking the King this year. At least so far.

In fact the motor comany came up with that name due to the atom bombs fatman and littleboy hence the name fatboy, the very first model even came out with the same color scheme as the bombs and the rocker boxes had those very same orange stripes the bombs had. Although all models have come out off the factory with solid rims, the first fatboys such as the evo's or some of the earlier twin cams did not came with real "fat" tires, in fact those fatboys used to have 130mm front and rear tires on 16' rims. As time went by, fatboys became larger not just tire size wise but frame and motor wise as well, so the robust configuration of this iconic Harley Davidson helped the term stick and became known for it. P.S. Personally I don't know anybody who has asked if the fatboy is a good beginner motorcycle, but it's like asking if you can learn to shoot with an AR-15 assault rifle, it just doesn't make any sense at all.

In England and considering a move to HD and, specifically, the FatBoy; the best looking HD in my view. Currently riding a late (and excellent) Yamaha XJR1300 that is stylish, nimble and with bags of torque. Problem is, the old twisty, country lanes that were all quiet, in good condition and had 60mph speed limits back in our hay day are now full of pot holes, cyclists, horseriders and 40 mph limits. So, maybe it’s time to just bob along on a cool-looking bike that can be really stable at low speeds, comfortable at cruising speeds and fast out of corners - and look good doing it. Thanks for the review.

Oh chit! I hate when that happens. Anyway, have you had any issues with condensation in the speedo. housing on any of your Fat Boys and did you do anything to remedy it? I bought a 2016 last winter. 2,000 miles on it. I hadn't noticed this issue on this bike until recently on a few hour ride and it started to appear across the bottom. I've watched a few videos on dealing with it, but the processes were extreme. There's got to be an easy way to eliminate it.
@ihateemael10 күн бұрын
hi, drilling holes doesn't work, the top area is reasonably well separated from the bottom. So I pulled mine apart and scraped the muck off the inside of the glass. . .turns out that muck is really effective anti-fog. . bummer. Now my speedo goes white whenever the weather changes. One day i'll have another go and glue the glass on with silicone instead of the grease hd uses.

I found that it’s really hard to not put ever so slight scratches in the chrome, especially on top of the triple tree/forks. It’s kind of like I’d rather ride the bike a little bit dirty, then continually wash it and risk the chance of scratching the chrome. I’m going to always start with a brand new microfiber cloth and do the rims last.

That’s actually how I wound up buying a Fat Boy. I went to the dealership to look at a late model deluxe that they had taken in on trade, but the top of the front forks were so badly scratched. There was no way I was going to buy that bike.it’s probably why the guy traded it in. While I was there, I sat on a new Fat Boy and made my mind up right then and there.
