@@colinwilkes8957 it's funny how when you discover something new you realize you can't live without it. Mark e smith's lyrics are just mind blowingly brilliant. Never encountered a lyricist like him❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰

I rediscovered The Fall about 7 years ago. I was in my mid forties and was familiar with the "hits". They're now a constant in my musical diet and I've probably only heard half their catalogue.

Good band actually. But the emperor has no clothes. (Someone has to say it. I know it will get abuse. He was great as long as you accept that he was taking the piss. The moment you take him seriously as a musician, you're a victim rather than an admirer).

This emperor wears his clothes and his nakedness with indifferent pride, and that's the decisive attraction of The Fall.

@@paulsmit1356 Yes he does but that doesn’t make his music or lyrics any good. They’re not.

I pretty sure it was Frank Skinner who said this, but it sums up MES and the Fall sound to me perfectly: There are other good bands about but they are like de-caff coffee, but The Fall are the real deal, full strength. Hip Priest ... you are truly appreciated by those of us who know, ‘and they knoowww!!!’

It’s great, the band are tight and everything, but not MES’s finest work....give me the raw power of Live at the Witch Trials and Grotesque ATG any day....I fucking worshipped the Fall back then.
