Idk if I’ve been taking the right classes. You be the judge, please. The only reason why there are so many business classes is because I go to a STEM high school. Therefore there are hardly any classes surrounding the arts. 😪 8th grade: Algebra l, Biology Freshman Year: Geography AP Human Chemistry Pre-AP Geometry Pre-AP English I Pre-AP Art I Pre-AP Spanish HS I Prin. Of Business Sophomore Year: World History AP Physics Algebra II Pre-AP English II Pre-AP Spanish HS II Business Law Junior Year: DC US History Onramps Physics College Algebra DC English DC Creative Writing Business Management Senior Year: I don’t yet know what I’ll be taking because I’m going into my junior year.

As former active military looking to go back to school for architecture, mandatory fun isn't a foreign torture to me when I'd rather be napping or doing my own fun thing elsewhere 😂. While I'm getting better at more interpersonal relationships out of necessity, a lot of my schooling will have to end up being online due to having a stepdaughter to parent while the closest university would be over 3 hours in both directions. My current civilian job is just too useful to uproot for that with my wife and daughter to think about. Ironically, I never really thought about how many other black architects there may or may not be out there until I found this channel 🙋🏾‍♂️. My interest in it stemmed from my more solitary practice in photography, so I never really expected to end up back in a classroom setting after the pandemic.

IM SO SO SORRY TO ASK BUT DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT WERE THE MATH CLASSES YOU CHOSE FOR EACH YEAR? ive been struggling to choose which math classes to do in highschool because obviously i need to do algebra 2/trig and geometry but im wondering if i need to do AP caculus AB/BC to get a higher chance of getting into USC, so sorry to ask but please answer this comment because i reallt really need to know 😓

Hi! I did Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB (and passed with a 3 on the AP exam). Not sure how important this is to USC, since you take a math placement exam before you start your first year. If you don’t pass that exam then they just add a math class to your schedule. But for applying, you generally want to show that you’ve completed a high enough level of math and probably physics. I hope that helps!

I have a question. I did AP 2D Art, and I got 4 on the AP Exam. So, I have the portfolio that I made for AP Art. Are we allow to use that portfolio to the college application? or is it illegal?

Yes, you can use that portfolio. Any work that you did during highschool you can show.

I am Junior now, and I just decided to apply for architecture school. But, I noticed that I need to make portfolio, but I don't have it currently. I still have 4months left before my application for college. Should I just give up? or would it be possible? I know that you must have portfolio to apply for the architecture college. Also, do we need only one architecture portfolio? Please answer me and give me a lot of advices. Thank you so much

You can definitely put together a portfolio in 4 months. To apply to architecture school, they are not expecting you to have architecture work. Think of it more as an art portfolio. Only one portfolio with several projects is needed. You got this!

Hi I’m currently a senior in HS and will be entering USC architecture as a first year. I was just wondering what are the likely hoods of me being able to go to parties and stuff as a first year architecture student cuz I have a lot of friends who will be entering USC and other LA schools (in other majors) and it would be a shame if I’m not able to have a good time there. loved this talked!! i learned alot and it was cool to hear from everyone's pov--and was thinking around min 45 about saying no to the profs and them sometimes not getting your project ideas... would this boom of AI help with providing visuals for the projects where you have to really explain what it is you wanna do and profs just not seeing the vision? Like would AI be able to ease how to show more tangible ways of these project ideas? anyway, thanks for a good listen

I’ve always thought, as a fifth year arch student, I wish there was an arch student podcast, but the reason they don’t exist is bc we’re too busy for that kind of side project. I’m so glad you guys are doing this and I hope you do lots of episodes because this is the kind of easy content we as student cans consume as we work lol.

Honestly, this podcast was awesome. I´m a 3th year student at an university in Peru. Basically, a lot of stuff you mentioned was something that is similar at my university too. But, there are certain difference in our curriculum. Hope to see a new episode soon.

You aren’t expected to know anything about architecture when you study it. They will teach you when you go to college.
