Hi, my Auto ISO indicator is always flashing and it is distracting. I have tried many configurations but it almost always flashes. Why is this and is there a way to turn this off?
@PeltierPhoto
@PeltierPhoto 7 күн бұрын
Unfortunately there's no way to disable that. It's the camera's way of telling you that it's choosing an ISO higher than your programmed minimum, just to make you aware it'll be higher. I've learned to ignore it :)

I have searched a lot but there is no one mention about the custom mode setting actually is not only 7 modes but for 14 modes. Yes, 7 for custom video modes and 7 custom for photo modes. Fuji's has a big issue to give a short cut to switch the video or photo custom mode. Only get into the second tier menu to make this change.
@PeltierPhoto
@PeltierPhoto 13 күн бұрын
Seven modes for photography and seven for video is still only seven for photographers. Some Fujifilm cameras actually do allow you to quickly switch between photo and video custom settings by selecting that custom setting you programmed to be either photo or video, but you're even more limited in total settings. The X-S20 has four custom settings available and you choose whether each is for photo or video. So you only get four total, not eight. Same for GFX cameras that have six custom settings, you only get six total, but can quickly choose between photo or video.

Great tutorial. I’ve been a Fujifilm user since the X-T1 and this is the BEST explanation of how to use Auto ISO with Fujifilm’s DR function. Bravo! To keep nice shadows without under-exposing I usually reduce my highlights rather than adjust DR. I might use DR more often because playing with highlights and shadows settings can give weird results. Thanks again.

Obviously there should be, across fuji cameras: (1) separate custom settings banks for (a) jpeg recepies and (R1-R7) (b) camera settings. (C1-C7) (2) Custom settings management should work like this: AUTOSAVE should preserve settings changes when camera is turned off. ERASE should erase custom setting to factory defaults. RESET should reset settings to those originally saved by user. SAVE should make changes made to custom settings permanent. @Fujifilm, it is not so hard!
@PeltierPhoto

@@PeltierPhoto I looked into Sony's system (still unsure if I want X-T5 with all its focus problems) and Sony is organized just as it should be: separate banks for jpeg recepies, separate banks for LUTs and separate banks for camera settings. Some are even bound to SD card, so - new card in, new camera settings. Wish Fuji would not that mush depend on enthusiasts who are willing to suffer :)

@@zigaturkfgg3716 yeah, the Sony system is better in that regard, but overall the Sony menus are absolute garbage and the cameras feel more like computers than cameras, which is why I switched from Sony to Fujifilm in the first place :) But...that's just my opinion!

If it's disabled, any changes you make will be reset when the camera power is cycled. That's how it works on the X-T5 and I imagine how the X-T50 will behave also. You only need to use the Reset function if you want to reset your changes without cycling camera power.

There's only so much you can do in a single exposure. If you have a lot of contrast you need to do some sort of HDR blending with multiple exposures. Or try using the camera's DR setting.

Great video for explaining structured keywords. I love Photo Mechanic for a lot of things, but as a stock shooter and editor who is constantly dealing with tons of keywords, I have to say setting up and maintaining a hierarchy in Lightroom is WAY easier and more intuitive than this. That said, if you are dealing with metadata (keywords, etc.) that is already embedded in an image, PM is considerably better than LR since LR works in a catalog space and not directly on image files.

With respect, 46.9 is exactly equal to 46-54-00 (no seconds), so why is one more precise? The precision is not increased when you convert from one unit (decimal) to another (min-deg-sec). Is 1.0 feet more precise than 12 inches? No.
@PeltierPhoto
@PeltierPhoto Ай бұрын
It's not about the conversion, it's about reading the chart. Aeronautical charts are annotated in Degrees-Minutes. If you ignored that annotation and tried to read a chart using Decimal Degrees, you could be several miles off unless you used a chart plotter in the correct scale.

I'm going to assume that your shutter speed is set to Auto and when you go indoors to where there's not enough light, your manual aperture is too small and it causes your shutter speed to slow down to where you get blurry photos. But it's impossible to know without seeing what's happening. You can check out this Exposure Triangle course if you need more help: photocourses.link/et

I had a problem where the FOCUS MODE setting had the CONTINUOUS AF setting grayed out, leaving only the MANUAL FOCUS and SINGLE AF as possible choices. I could not figure this out but you hinted that auto choices could be the cause. I found the problem was in the camera shooting setting menu for IS MODE. If this was set for SHOOTING ONLY or OFF, the problem persisted, but if it was set for CONTINUOUS the problem went away. Quite a relief to have discovered this. Thanks much.
