A month ago I underwent the TAE procedure in Los Angeles. The procedure was super easy and I could go home within an hour. I had no issues from the procedure itself. I live in the Netherlands and had to fly to the US to do the procedure (is not available in Europe). I could fly back to NL after 2 days. The large substernal goiter started to shrink already within a week. It started to give off the surplus hormones in a fast pace and I went through quite a serious hyper. Beta blockers were needed. Doctor said the hyper is a good news since it shows that the goiter is shrinking. I already experience easier breathing (the goiter was pushing against the windpipe). Normally it will take months before you can experience progress. The procedure was done by dr. Allaei - CVI Thyroid Center. Look for the TAE page, it has quite a lot of interesting information and videos.

I had the misfortune of finding Dr. Russell through social media and he was a horrible surgeon he deformed my chin with the scarless Thyroidectomy and caused hypoparathyroidism. The worst part about it is that he gaslit me for years just lies upon lies.

I appreciate your videos so much. I have an appointment next month with Catherine Sinclair (in Australia) to see if my micro papillary thyroid carcinoma can have RFA instead of being removed. I also have a large benign nodule on one side. I have my fingers crossed. Thank you for bringing awareness to patients of possible alternative options.

I wanted RFA, but i was told it was not possible. My largest nodule was 7cm, smallest was 1.5cm i was diagnosed with Hurthles before surgery in the fine needle aspiration and the biopsy after surgery showed papillary, i had 2 surgeries and a high dose of radioactive iodine. The largest nodule attached to the neck muscles, larynx and the papillary spread to lymphnodes. It is hard not having a thyroid, still trying to adjust, its been 6 months since treatment. I work in a physically demanding job (oil rigs) and it effects my performance. Definitely the bad days outweighs the good days of feeling normal. RFA is the answer if you can, no thyroid sucks!

Just had this procedure done this morning. People actually said they had not done very many so one person started but another stepped in and did more. Since I already have cancer I have a good idea of what they will find. Any surgical procedure just speeds cancer. Solid nodules had already gotten larger. So poor they said they would give a paper on what to do after test but then forgot to give me the paper! Presbyterian hospital in Albuquerque so don't go there.👎

Everyone is telling me that I need to have the surgery, but I wanna know all my options. Thank you in advance

Does Dr. Juan Camacho take private patients on from abroad? I live in the UK where TAE currently isn't available. Last year my CT Scan showed a 130cc goitre below the collarbone so I need this sorting urgently! (It's taken this long to find our RFA won't work for me and the NHS wants to remove my thyroid.)

FYI, I'm in the UK and CVI quoted me £13k for TAE and around half that for RFI.

Are thyroid surgeons unaware of these alternatives to thyroidectomies or could some be purposely concealing alternative RFA/MFA/TAE treatments because avoiding surgery will impact their earnings?

Yes it helped me a lot. I had all these thoughts and stuff about RFA and now I’m feeling great about the possibility of this being an option for me, although my endocrinologist is a little less optimistic because of the size of my nodule.

Currently going through this. I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer of thyroglossal duct cyst but the 2 biopsies I had done of my actual thyroid gland came back benign. I decided to just remove the thyroglossal duct cyst known as Sistrunk procedure and leave my thyroid for now. My PCP and Endocrinologist are not happy with my decision. They wanted me to remove everything and then receive radioactive iodine.

Jen, thank you so much for making your experience public. I have learned so much and I am going to have to have the same treatment. I have both sides of my neck now pretty swollen and I saw your KZfaq with Dr. Richard Harding in Arizona. My question is I have a son that lives in Virginia? I’m up in Alaska, comparing the doctors experience, would you recommend your doctor? If so, I’d love their information. I’m going to need to do something probably sooner than later.

Hi and thank you so much for the awareness that you're spreading ❤ My thyroid journey is like your guest Vanessa's, for years it was there unnoticeable and then growing over the years, now 4.4cm. My doctor wants me to remove it. I'm not going to do that, obviously. But in her case and mine the size continued to grow so my fear is that will happen after the RFA, from your interview she didn't mention whether hers grew afterwards. Could you throw a light on that? Thanks

My nodule was about 4.5 by 6.5 cm. The volume was between 65 and 75 mls. Reduced 90 percent after 2 RFAs. Have maintained for 5 years! You can watch my whole story on this playlist: kzfaq.info/sun/PL5tSaOk33p78OWRSCWMu-mszkIFjubTPx&si=a7RFHuHZEgNY4Uoq

@@ItsmeJenagain thanks for your response. I have three nodules. One is 122ml and the others are 12 and 15ml. I'm trying to see if there is a non surgical way to get rid of them without destroying my thyroid. The surgeon i talked to said she'd only need to take out half my thyroid if they did surgery. But im still exploring options

I have a 1 cm nodule on the right side of my thyroid that tested positive for cancer. I also have a 1.6 cm nodule of my left side and it was Benign. My doctor wants me to take my whole thyroid out and I really don't want to. Do I have other options?
