Actually, they were both within a pound of each other at 115 lbs. They wouldn't be allowed to fight each other by the sanctioning body if there was that much of a discrepancy.

After not making weight during weigh ins, Mardin’s coach told me I had to cut weight the day of the fight down to 143 in order for them to accept and continue the fight. Which my coach and I accepted not knowing the consequences. I cut 7 lbs the morning of the fight day and still fought as my body hadn’t replenished. It was dumb but as fighters we tend to have the warrior mindset. During the end of round one, my lungs started to get dry and my thought process and reaction was way slower than normal. I couldn’t breathe and didn’t even see the cross coming. Big props to Mardin and it was an honor sharing the ring with him. Had I been healthy that night, I know I would’ve took the W. No excuses on my end, just poor judgment and dumb decisions. If he wants to run it back at 140-145lbs I’d be happy to oblige, respectfully.

Fan here, I mean no disrespect here but correct me if I'm wrong; your lead hand never came back up, after the failed lead (left)hand parry to his jab. ur right hand kinda blocked the jab but it ended up hitting u in the face which left u eyes closed chin up then his cross came. This is what I saw anyways from that angle . was the weight cut affecting ur defense? idk about weight cuts im genuinely asking. You were looking really sharp in the beginning!
