I'm from Seattle and had the chance to see them up close and personal in the 1980s. The glue impo was Geoff Tate and without him they couldn't continue their success. Fortunately, he's still touring on his own and sounds fantastic!!

The first song I heard off Mindcrime was The Needle Lies as a preview for the midnight/next day launch. It blew me and my friends away.

I sincerely do not think OPERATION MIND CRIME will ever get the respect it should. The fact the next album was the “hit” album… so so so gross.

How was the name Gkost never taken before, Forge most likely did sell his soul for his brother. He was such a deceptively disarming persona.

Chris leaving was indeed the end. Should have called themelves something else after he left. Can't lose your main songwriter and expect to continue with any success unless you bring in another great song writer/guitarist, which they've never done.

promised. Land was the end of it once the garmer checked out. The band was over. He was the only smart one who knew Jeff's voice was gone. What made Queen's Reich special was the amazing things. Jeff could do that. He could no longer do, and without that. They just weren't the same band anymore.... To this day they go around, blaming each other. When in fact, it was nobody's fault.Nobody could sing like jeff and expect their voice to last, but more than a decade, it's physically impossible.Your vocal cords are not made of titanium for christ's sake..

Best concert ever... Def Leppard"Hysteria" tour in the round with Queensryche as opener. I was there more to hear Operation Mindcrime Live, and it was beyond awesome! They played 2 nights in Philadelphia, and me and my friend went both nights. God, I miss the 80's. Getting old SUCKS!

Wondering if the advent of Grunge took the oxygen out of the room for this group.

I think it was a confusing time for them as a band. Every member was pulling his own way; they clearly weren't getting along personally; and they had just followed up a major hit with a major flop. There is debate on whether the grunge pivot was dictated by the record label or not, and there's evidence that DeGarmo was fully into Alice in Chains, but by the time HITNF came out, it was clear that Ryche was not on the wave - if there was even a wave left to ride.

I hate the statement the rise and fall! So every artist is supposed to just go on for eternity, creating better things over and over again or else there’s some sort of failure?
