What are the dividers?
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 2 күн бұрын
I had some of these clear dividers from 12x12 paper that I cut down. You can use any sturdy material you like - thicker cardstock or cardboard, pressboard, plastic, etc.... These are the ones I had on hand: amzn.to/3Acqw44

Is Onyx Black the only black? I want to get it and wanna make sure I don't have other choices.
@NicoleWattCreates

Onyx Black is the Versafine black. Nocturne is the Versafine CLAIR black. They are both equally good. They are slightly different, but both a good, solid black. Personally, I prefer Nocturne as I prefer the VF Clair ink pad cases. It keeps the pad nice and sealed, meaning I don't have to re-ink it as often! Except for Onyx Black, it seems that most stores carry the VF Clair line of inks. So, if having the same form factor/ matching set is important to you, I'd go for Nocturne. Here are some affiliate links to places I like to shop: Dick Blick: shrsl.com/4m7uk Scrapbook. com: shrsl.com/4m7uj

Yes! Definitely try it out on your own first. It’s not 100% like using a gel press, so don't expect perfect pulls. But it works great for abstract and distressed looks. Have fun!

I'm wondering if instead of water I can use isopropyl alcohol instead. I'm thinking of using this for 3D printing and I would rather not have water sprayed on electronics.
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 3 ай бұрын
Great question! However, alcohol will make this water & latex style glue "curdle". I actually use an alcohol bath to remove the glue from the stencils.

Very interesting. Why do you say use one width but you use three different ones?
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 3 ай бұрын
This is for my techniques sample book, so I wanted to create a single sample that showed the three typical washi widths. If I was doing the technique for an actual project, I would use only one width. Having the sample show different widths would help me to decide which size I want to use for my project. HTH!

Hello Nicole, This is a great hack and a video. Stumbled upon your/this video after searching for methods for re-glueing cutting mats used by the cutting machines like Silhouette Cameo, Cricut, etc.. My question: I would like to know if this method of your will work for re-glueing cutting mats used by the cutting machines like Silhouette Cameo, Cricut, etc..
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 3 ай бұрын
I believe it would. In the past, I have used the Zig Glue Pen (here on Amazon: amzn.to/3vYVrz2 ) to re-glue my cutting mats. But, I think that watering down the Tombow glue and then brushing or spraying on might accomplish the same task while getting the most out of your adhesive! I would suggest taping around the edges so they don't get sticky, then either spray and perhaps brush out so it's even, or just brush on directly, then let it dry. If you're already experimenting with an old mat, it's worth a try. The glue will come off with a soak in rubbing alcohol. ( I have a video on removing the adhesive from stencils here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pdubibBhptiwhXk.html )

How can I get the bubbles out of my clear stamp when I lay it down reminds me of a screen protector .😮 Thank you for sharing.
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 4 ай бұрын
I usually only have this problem with larger stamps. Most times, a bubble won't cause an issue, however if it is, I remove and re-seat the stamp on the block or positioning tool. If it is a large enough stamp, you can roll it on to keep bubbles to a minimum. HTH!

What a great idea! I purchased an 8x10" Gel Press plate over six months ago (probably longer actually, I just don't want to admit it, lol) and it's still in it's original packaging! Due to lack of confidence as a new user I'm so wary about using and possibly ruining it coz it was not cheap! Daft, I know but I can't help it. But you may have just solved my problem coz I actually have a silicone mat I can practice on. Yay - thank you so much Nicole! 🥰

I'm glad this video gave you some confidence! But, really, DIVE into your real gel plate! It is so much fun! There's not much you can do to damage it except to puncture it or cut it, so avoid using materials that have a lot of texture. Virtually nothing will stick to it permanently. You might stain it a bit, but that's ok! I have quite a few videos using the gel press, including a cleaning video, so be sure to check those out!

I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure they will. You can also use Heat n Bond (also by Therm-o-web) is basically the same product. It's a no-sew fuser. You might get it cheaper by the yard (or in package) as Heat n Bond from your local sewing store (or online). The Heat n Bond Lite seems to be about the same weight. Either way - have fun!

I have the versafine ink pad which now has a regular lid. However, I find it difficult to use without getting ink on my fingers. The Versafine Clair looks to have a better type lid that will be cleaner to use. I hope so anyway because I have just ordered one.
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 5 ай бұрын
Yes! I totally understand. I prefer the VF Clair style pads too! There seems to be more space around the edges to grab, and the pad sits up high enough that the base doesn't get in the way. I also like how tightly they seal. I can come back to a VF Clair ink after a year or more and it's still as juicy as ever.

How can I get Elmer's spray adhesive residue off of my painted wood door hanger project after removal of stencil?
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 7 ай бұрын
I'm not an expert in wood door hangers, but I'm guessing that if the residue is on raw wood (not painted), you could use an adhesive remover square. It looks like an eraser. Here's one for reference shrsl.com/4dag4

Just wondering if you can use the same technique with acrylic paints on portraits ? Since acrylic paints can be watered down and used as a glaze . would it work shades of grey as undertones ?
@NicoleWattCreates
@NicoleWattCreates 8 ай бұрын
Hmm. I suppose if you were going to glaze over the gray, it may have the same effect. The reason we do this with markers is because we can't mix the color ahead of time like you could with acrylic paints. I always say creative ideas always start with "what if?" So, take some time to play and see if it works the way you expect! It's only paint!

Hi, Nicole. I saw this video when you first did it, but then 'lost it'. I'm SO GLAD to have found it again. My quetion: does the pump sprayer clog from the glue?
