Celine's vibrato is at its best when she sings in French. I am glad the world had an opportunity to witness it.

Joe - glad you went back to listen to the recap of the announcers. Kelly Clarkson’s reaction is all we need to know, when she said “I’m speechless”, then broke down in tears.

I've seen every reaction on KZfaq of that epic performance of Celine. Yours is one of my favorite ❤

I watch videos of vocal coaches or other singers analysing Céline Dion's performance of Edith pIaf's Hymne à l'amour, and it seems that the emotion is such that even if you're not French and don't understand the words, Céline's interpretation and the music create emotion beyond borders! Edith Piaf is one of the greatest French singers and from her birth to her death, this woman experienced a lot of suffering, so you really have to have in mind the translation of this song and Céline's modern interpretation to understand that the fusion of the two is perfect and that the emotion is at the Zenith! Greetings from France with the link to the original video of this song! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qc1yn8d_2LGRqKs.html

I'm wondering how non-native french people perceive french language. For me, as a french people, I perceive the american accent so beautiful and in the same time, I know that I never could speak as american people.

It’s a love song..written by Edith Piaf after she lost her boyfriend…. I believe that Celine Dion sang this for the love of her beloved husband Rene.

No, the song was written before Marcel Cerdan's death 😉 It was released after his death, but when she wrote it and recorded it he was still very much alive ^^ It was a beautiful love song but a bad omen 😉

To me this was better than her Atlanta's Olympic performance. Everyway. She sounded better, the song was better, she looked better and the place and settings was made for her. Simple but grand 🗼
@Rosannasfriend7 күн бұрын
The performance was better because it was so emotional. I don’t know about sounding better because that was her vocal peak in the mid 90s. The songs are hard to compare because they’re totally different, and I love both. But this was definitely much more memorable because of the whole stories surrounding it, and she triumphed over adversity.
@terohietamies94417 күн бұрын
@@Rosannasfriend I have always loved her French language career way more than English. Even songs where she has both languages I prefer listening to the French version. More power, more emotions. And yes you are right this was way more emotional and it has a little impact.

Hi Joe, just heard you as a guest on Miss Indepodcast, so I'm looking forward to your content. Not sure you heard about her inaugural performance of this album at the Belasco, but she tried to restart this song twice in order to keep from crying while she sang. I cried through the whole song. Greatest night of my life - I cried and cheered and cried and cheered. Thanks for sharing your reactions.
