Really bad advice which leads to too steep a turn or a potentially could lead to a reverse pivot. You turn in your posture so all you need to do is turn your left shoulder across to your chin and also stay in posture

Here is a great golf tip for aging senior golfers. On the backswing, lift the left heel then step forward with the right foot. Lift the right heel and step forward with the left foot. Keep alternating left right left right until you reach the forward tee box. Then throw away your score card and just have fun.

Great tip. At 63 yo, I recently started bringing my left heal off the ground to help make a bigger turn resulting in many extra yards off the tee. Looking forward to trying this out, thanks

This seems like it was a revelationary video to me. Ive been golfing 2.5y and was aware that you are not supposed to be scoopy through impact and as a result I've been doing everything over this time to consciously avoid that and really think about driving ball into ground to inconsistent success and rolling hands and holding off and all sorts. I tried this release in the net in the garden and this blew my mind. I've been avoiding that kind of move, incorrectly thinking it would scoop and I'm not to try and lift the ball into the air but the only way that really would happen is if I backed away from the ball. Providing the weight/pressure shifts are fine then you can't scoop it seems and the release makes the ball first contact happen without overly trying to overdo it. I have had lessons and this was never taught to me and surely, this is the fundamental most important after grip and address positions. I've also been told to use my hands/wrists more in a vague manner by a coach but couldn't relate to whatever the point was, but this video has made me potentially understand that point. Anyway, life story ha, thanks for the video and great instruction.

Good video Andrew. Your 'piston' motion reminds me of a freestyle swimming stroke One question: 'Is there an active downwards pressure by the lead hand on the club handle or is that pressure derived entirely from the shoulder rocking motion??' Thanks. Bill

Thank you. I took lessons a year ago and my instructor made me hold the face off and said it was the "new" way of doing things. This resulted in me developping a Permanent push fade. Inside out swing path and with a perpetually open club face. I was too much of a beginner to understand the consequences. Finally switched back to this type of release instead of holding off and I am back to hitting my natural draw. So very appreciated. Thank you for the in depth explanation of the semantics as well as everything else.

An underrated part of the golf swing. I can hit decent shots but when my tempo and timing is good i can hit them more often. The hardest part for me is that my best tempo feels really slow and easy on the way back and through transition and my instinct is to hit from the top rather than letting momentum build through to impact.
@johnschwartz15363 ай бұрын
I agree with you Andrew, Tempo and Timing are very important in the golf swing. I immediately know when I get too fast in my transition, my golf shot is ruined! Well Done Andrew! Keep up the good work!

As always Andrew, an excellent video on how to get the body moving properly in the golf swing! I like your "inclined shoulder" movement to start the backswing rather than level shoulders. I also think in making this move, one should stay centered and not have excess head or body movement. Well Done Andrew! Always learn or validate from your videos!

The problem is not getting shallow. Everyone can shallow the club. In my opinion, and in my experience, the reason they don’t is because they have no idea what do once they are shallow. This has been my problem. How do I deliver the club head to the ball with any speed at all from that shallow position. That’s the hard part. I wish this was talked about more because I’ve had some slight success and requires using completely different muscles to motor the swing…rather than pulling on a chain its like lowering a bicep curl…but I still can’t quite get it.

Great Podcast! What’s interesting to me is that a lot of what Boyd says like driving the ball, being good at lag putting, and knowing tour stats to help manage expectations is so closely aligned to Decade Golf and what Scott Fawcett talks about .
