yes doing something of that nature would require using grasshopper. For simple uniform geometry, rhino is good enough.

If you have an architecture background, it will serve well in doing this sort of work. You're dealing mainly with steel parts and pieces. Building codes for land based projects apply to the cruise ship world. There are more and more design firms entering this industry.

I started using sketchup in the very beginning but moving into Rhino is a better choice, you have more flexibility and prompts to do advanced commands. Once you start using grasshopper, you can design anything! Stay tuned for grasshopper tutorials.

@@CHRoOMAX watch my tutorials and try to practice the commands without watching videos. Start with rhino tutorials. Practice doing it consistently so you don’t forget. Once you get comfortable with rhino and grasshopper you’ll advance greatly in an office setting and school if you are student.

If you wanted to truly fabricate this, I would recommend using grasshopper in that you can achieve the precise cuts for the pieces. In my own practice I use this. If you want to learn more I am hosting a class in a couple of weeks. I also will be doing grasshopper training. A link to my class is in the description of video.
