One of the biggest hazards on today’s roads is the pot hole, or in some cases trench! Riding on the near side might be a good tactic in normal conditions, but I’ve seen road edging so damaged and dangerous it would likely kill you if you hit it. When I’m riding here in Scotland pot holes are the hazard I’m having to be most aware of. On some roads your road positioning is entirely governed by how bad the road surface is.

Yes, very good. I'm guessing though that marked police riders don't get much hassle from tailgaters. Any practical tips? especially on roads where its dangerous to pull over to let them pass.

Am I wrong or, towards the end of the video, is the officer seen to be covering the front brake with a single index finger whilst the rest of their fingers are on the throttle, and middle finger up behind the brake lever? I was taught that single/two finger brake operation was highly dangerous and could prevent full actuation of the lever in an emergency and also hampered throttle roll off during braking? Happy to he corrected on either the fact he was doing it, or that it's dangerous???

Copper isn't wrong many riders, professional riders,racers ECT do it too Main reason for it is to prevent the snatch n grab of the front brake lever in normal and emergency braking situations which effectly shocks the front tyre potentially causing a low side wash out or stoppie scenario Instead seeing as fingers are already resting there it's a squeeze n release situation allowing tyres time to grip up and perform properly effectively removing the snatch n grab motion. Look up riding explanations/videos of "trail braking" & "wait for the weight" (Side note) hard full hand/fist handle bar and throttle grip isn't good because then your fighting (in your hands & arms) against what the bike/bars naturally want to do.

It’s all obviously good information, but the predominant hazards on the roads today are pot holes. Your road position is 100% governed by their location and severity. Everything else is a compromise, if you hit one the consequences are potentially fatal.

Re. Passing farms, also look for mud on the road. Also, in this kind of rural setting be aware of vehicles suddenly appearing from “hedgerows” which are actually access to fields. You will often get mud here too. (I’m writing this from Suffolk - there are a lot of farms around here). Re. rural riding, deer can suddenly pop out in front of you unannounced. You don’t want to hit one of those at 60mph. Lastly, that stationary car “parked” on the right may be a motorcycle-blind idiot about to do a U turn. Remember you are invisible and that all other road users are idiots. They only worry about killing you AFTER they have done it.

No lessons were learned the exact same rhetoric, mistakes, coverups and failures are still being made today, 2022 report 8. There were widespread failures to record data about the ethnicity of both perpetrators and victims in the case study areas: in Durham, data provided for 2018/19 showed that ethnicity was not recorded for suspects in 35 percent of 1,900 cases of child sexual abuse and exploitation, and for 14 percent of 1,138 victims separate figures for sexual exploitation were not provided;[1] in Swansea, across the South Wales Police area, less than half of the 56 incidents of child sexual exploitation in 2018/19 recorded the victim’s ethnicity;[2] in the Warwickshire 2019 profile, the ethnicity of over 40 percent of 137 perpetrators and over 50 percent of 162 victims of child sexual exploitation was unknown;[3] in St Helens, Merseyside Police noted that, between April 2017 and March 2019, 41 percent of 435 victims and 28 percent of 217 alleged perpetrators of child sexual abuse and exploitation did not provide their ethnicity; separate figures for sexual exploitation were not provided;[4] in the Tower Hamlets 2019 profile, ethnicity was not recorded for 86 percent of offenders involved in 147 reports of child sexual exploitation and 14 percent of 166 victims of child sexual exploitation in the Central East Area BCU;[5] and in Bristol, the ethnicity of 28 percent of 137 suspects and 19 percent of 474 children at risk of child sexual exploitation was unknown or unrecorded.[6] 9. Internal research by Avon and Somerset Police in 2020 highlighted that: some of its systems did not make it easy to record ethnicity; it was sometimes not clear who is responsible for recording ethnicity; there was some lack of knowledge about how to record ethnicity and why it is important; and some officers were not confident in asking members of the public to define their ethnicity.[7] 10. As set out in Part B, collating accurate and reliable data on the ethnicity of victims and perpetrators has long been recognised as an important exercise. The failures to do so in the case study areas mean that the police and other agencies in those areas are unable to identify local patterns and trends of child sexual exploitation in respect of ethnicity. This is compounded by the subsuming of data about child sexual exploitation victims and perpetrators within the wider category of child sexual abuse and exploitation, detrimentally affecting the quality of data that is produced and so the adequacy of the response by institutions, including to children who have already been abused.

Roads are being covered within chippings now making it dangerous for a biker ! I saw where you took the nearside bend then spotted an oncoming bus so you got back over to the left when you were mid corner, the gravel they’re using on roads now would make sure bikers skid off on the centre line which is full of said gravel

tbh after doing 215k miles of riding in the past 6 years I'm very impressed that this police biker is actually good at riding I've seen so many police bikers who ride like crap but this guy is great. very impressive.

Contrary to the stereotypical crime of forced marriages; the opposite often occurs with “enforced singledom.” This is primarily because male and female perpetrators of honour-based abuse recognise that if their target gets married/co-habits with a man then he will effectively form an invaluable source of emotional support to the victim thus meaning siblings and other perpetrators will lose the power to abuse the family member. That is why sabotaging romantic relationships is a common but underreported feature of honour-based abuse against women.

A 2.25 we have a recommended speed limit of 30 mph. On a left hand bend and there is shell grip on the road so that MUST TELL US SOMETHING. Many rider would not even slow at that stage and although the speed limit recommended was 30 mph he made it round at 40 mph. As said many would not even consider a slowing as they would be unable to see why. As they can see no reason for it they 'd totally disregard it,. At least he did slow from 60 to 40 mph. I also noticed that although at times he was doing 60 mph at other times even on a straight road he was going slower, doing lower than that and that's unusual as on most videos the rider is tear arsing around at 60 mph coming up behind other slightly slower moving vehicles and then doing the obligatory overtake to be in front of whatever is in front. One feels that as an advanced rider its necessary that one must overtaking take everything in sight.

The reason Police overtake as a matter of course is to eliminate additional ‘hazards’. I’d never considered it that way until I rode with them recently and discussed filtering at lights. I didn’t think filtering past five cars was worth the gain in progress. The officer I was out with pointed out that would have been five cars I didn’t have to deal with later…! Obvious when you’re told.

Nice ride shame about the pace. When in the police service and being out on patrol for at least 6 hours its not necessary to push the speeds up to the limit and the advice would be to ride according to the speeds of others. If one is always riding at the maximum speed of a road then its inevitable that one will encounter other slower moving vehicles. It then appears that its incumbent for motorcyclists to overtake every one of these vehicle that are travelling slower that oneself. That is not true. If traffic is travelling at near normal speed and under the speed limit one should think do I NEED TO OVERTAKE and its only in an emergency situation or where one is required to be at as early as possible where the answer to that question is YES. otherwise its a NO. So one doesn't always need to overtake. If in no particular hurry and under normal routine policing of the road one NEED not overtake but fall in behind and watch carefully. Remembering of course to give the safer stopping distances at all times. The police and other emergency services only overtake everything in the event of such an emergency but we as civilians don't have that NEED. So as we are civilians and don't have that NEED we should hold back . I was once told that the safest place to be was at the front of the queue but I refused to overtake the 19 other vehicle in front of me. I just slowed a little and gave much more than safe stopping distance to the last vehicle in front. I made a space for myself and became the front vehicle of my own queue and still kept up with the traffic flow ahead. .

I'm curious about how police riders manage stress and adrenaline during pursuits. Are they trained to modulate stress with specific exercises like breath control or does it come down to practice and experience?

Been riding since 1957. Its amazing to listen to what he is picking up on the road. Drove semis for 34 years and then at start and end of shift rode motorcycles 40 mile a day to and from the depot .driving big trucks all those years gives you a good grounding for reading the roads, especially for when I ride bikes.When ever I came across a bike I always got into the next lane to go past .Amazed at how many drivers try and go past a bike in the same lane .BUT too many bikers do not take up the whole of the lane they are in thereby inviting vehicles to try and get past them in the same lane .

This officer crossed the centre line of the road on a couple of occasions a very dangerous game to play should have been more careful throttleing back and reducing his speed would have been a safer option

I’m a uk resident I’ve rode in 18 different country’s around the world and the south east of England is the most dangerous I’ve seen by far, the standard of driving is shocking in the uk
