Your videos keep me motivated in building out my 370Z for drifting boss; awesome job!! I saw you don't have an ABS light on your dash, do you still have ABS functionality? I'm looking into getting an angle kit for the car but was wondering if ABS gets in the way of regular driving because of the increased ackermann and angle and if I'd have to install a switch to disable it. Any help is mega appreciated!! Also if you've still got ABS, does it interfere with your handbrake?
@CJdriftZАй бұрын
@@JakeAeroThanks dude!!! I have my traction control and ABS connected to one switch so I can turn them off when I want to drift, for drifting You do not want to run ABS as you will learn a lot of bad habits under braking. I’ll link you the video. I followed to disable traction control, and ABS when you disable the ABS as well it allows you to left foot break without the car cutting power.

@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
Looks like I was running the same pressure roughly 30 psi or 2 bar. The tires are ironman 245/40/18. Next time I am going to try 5 more psi outback and see how it feels. So 2.41 bar. Also had my rear dampening set to 25 out of 30, normally run 11 clicks for 2nd gear.

There are 2 bumps on that duck head. You need to get the tire to cover the leading bump and you won't need the C-clamps. The second time you tried with the C-clamps, it worked because the tire covered the leading bump. Of course the c-clamps helped too, but you won't need them if the tire is over the leading bump.

What was happening before that necessitated the offset rack spacers and now the install of this kit?
@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
I was running offsett rack spacers before. The kit itself ran perfectly fine for 2 years but my local tracks tech was giving me crap about the offsett rack spacers giving me slight play in the steering. I will say that I think the play was normal as I replaced the rack at one point but the play was the same with the new rack. It never got worse over the 2 years I ran with the kit but I just don't want anymore issued through tech at events. That’s the main reason I relocated the rack.
@MagnumX20002 ай бұрын
@@CJdriftZ how bad was the tie rod misalignment that it required the offset rack spacers? Was it overcentering or getting bound up?
@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
@@MagnumX2000 Gketch sells their kit with offsett rack spacers, It is not recommended to run without them or a relocation. I have never tried to run without spacers as it would 100% over center at that point. There would probably not be any clearance for the inners as well, they would most likely hit the wheel at full lock.
@MagnumX20002 ай бұрын
@@CJdriftZ interesting, I just installed the gk kit on my g and didn't see anything talking about the offset rack spacers. It honestly seems to line up well to my eye so I wasn't sure why they were needed. Haven't driven it yet though, so overcentering could certainly be an issue
@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
@@MagnumX2000 Yeah, it could be a number of things, but ideally, I would run offset rack spacers if you are running the extended LCA’s on top of the super lock kit. If you’re just running the super lock kit knuckle adapters, you do not need offset rack spacers. Also, I think it depends on how extended the LCA’s are on each car because we could have completely different setups as far as alignment. Pretty sure g37’s have a narrower track width upfront as well which would change how we both set up our angle kits per chassis.

Does that intake cam and exhaust really have to be in time to put the chain back
@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
Yes, You really should time the whole system and then do the chain. The way I did it works because nothing fell out of time. If you aren't sure if your motor is in time, make sure you you know that is is.
@rigobertoespinoza16852 ай бұрын
@@CJdriftZ im issue was that once i took off the case i start spinning in manuel on the crank bolt till the big disc match the time points never took off the secondary chains then marked the chain. Then i took the main chain off placed it back you think i messed up the timing.
@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
@@rigobertoespinoza1685 If nothing moved you're probably okay. Also if you mark the chain like I did here and make sure it's put on in the exact same spot it shouldn't be out of time. After you put the big chain/ tensioner back on rotate the crank and confirm your marks line back up after rotating it. If you wanted to be double sure there are some good videos about timing VQ's unfortunately I didn't make one at this time.
@rigobertoespinoza16852 ай бұрын
@@CJdriftZ yeah i watched over 10 to 15 videos everyone has mixed feelings to a point it gets confusing. I would get it if you take all three chains and are replacing cams you would have to time it correctly. But others say if your just dealing with the main chain it isnt necessary as long as you mark them before taking anything off. I did get a new tensioner. My g35 has about 190k issue was the water pump went out. I just did the gaskets also. Crazy part is the gallery gasket looked mint changed them anyways. Ordered new main seals dipstick o ring. Waiting on more O rings for the cam sensor all those were cracked. Hope all goes well will keep you updated.

I have the exact same Harbor Freight tire changer. I paid $35 for it when I bought it. You just spent $115 for a mod on a $35 tool. I'd say it was probably worth it, but hey..... I will also say that low profile tires are the bane of the universe when it comes to mounting and dismounting them.

Those of us with track only cars can't exactly drive them to a tire shop. Not to mention that many of us who build or tune our own cars absolutely hate someone else messing with them.
@johnmcmullen4562 ай бұрын
@@jamesgriffin7351My experience is that most shops don't want to even touch road race or autocross tires which have very stiff sidewalls. That's due to the real possibility of tearing the new tire's bead when forcing it on the rim with a powered tire changer. The manual tire changer has done the job for me for such tires but its very difficult, frustrating, and time consuming. Unfortunately the attachment used in this video won't work on my race tires so tire spoons and a helper have been mandatory supplements.

i gave a g37 and it always feels so sluggish at 1/4 half tank if i fill it up it feels faster. how can i make it feel faster all the time? i dont want to add a surge tank it seems expensive and annoying im not a drifter im not looking to have a ton of power i just want constant pressure. suggestions
@CJdriftZ2 ай бұрын
I would avoid driving around under half a tank with a g37 or 370. Not sure if you are aware of the fuel top hat, but the stock one tends to break if you run the tank below 1/2 even just daily driving. Before this fuel surge kit, I wouldn’t let my car get below 3/4 of a tank because of fuel surge around right hand corners. That’s not something you’ll have to worry about just driving around but G37 and 370z’s have a saddlebag style gas tank that’s why fuel surge happens so fast on these cars. I wish there was an easy solution for this other than keeping the car topped off but all of the other “fuel surge “kits other than radium don’t really work as effectively and are way over priced.

Just an fyi, if you have a yellow and red dot, the red dot always takes precedence over the yellow when lining up with the valve stem. 👍
@Chucka102 ай бұрын
I think you are right to a point, the red dot takes precedence, but, only when the rim is marked with a paint dot or a small shallow drill hole marking the spot to align the red dot. Otherwise the yellow dot aligns with the valve stem and you disregard the red dot if there is one. My experience is that on cars, I see red and yellow dots on V rated tires and above, yellow only on lower speed rated ones.
