I'm using my old P20 Pro as my second phone and finding it surprisingly competent for its age. It does everything I need it to and the camera remains impressive.

HarmonyOS is better since it wasnt planned like a random os for a phone like Xiaomi, it's because Huawei was being prepared to get banned from US companies, inluding Google, which has Android. So, HarmonyOS is here for a reason.
