The only way I saw them arriving was from a lot of cars and people parked near the airport approach with cameras getting ready for a range of aircraft arriving at Avalon Air show. Sorry I couldn't help you better.

Thanks Craig for your positive comments. I agree with you about airshow speakers which mostly spoils footage. Whilst i always try to find an area away from speakers it is far from easy unless a long way away. What you have just watched included footage of the practice display which thankfully had no speakers on. Cheers CP

I am really sorry you could not make it as I certainly missed a fenceline aviation friend at the airshow. Yes, it was hot, but after 4 days of heat & very high humidity at Shellharbour air show, Tyabb was bearable despite a few litres of water.

Your are correct with no fighter jets at that Tyabb airshow, The RAAF did provide the C-17 with two close passes so well worth it. Fingers crossed if a surprise RAAF jet sneaks by in this coming Tyabb air show.

The Su-30MKM is capable of competing with ANY jet out there… In 2014. USAF and USN brought their best planes to compete against Malaysian Sukhois, including F-22s, F-15s and F/A-18 Super Hornets… In 2019. RAF Typhoons also saw action with Malaysian Su-30, and just recently Australia sent their F-35s… Why would these three powerful countries bring their most advanced 5th and 4th gen planes in a country that operates only 18 Sukhois? It’s because they see the Su-30MKM as a great danger and want to get an insight into what it’s like to fight them, both BVR and WVR… I’ve personally spoked with Malaysian Flanker pilots involved in 2014. exercises and most of them claimed that Su-30 is in many aspects superior to American jets, especially within visual range, but also bvr… Some of them were even ex F-18D pilots that RMAF operates, and they gave the advantage to Sukhois, or to be precise, Russian tech in general… Don’t get me wrong, American jets operated by Singapore are highly capable plarforms, maybe even more advanced than Sukhois (at least the ones that Malaysia poses), but to think that Su-30MKM stands no chance is simply not true… I will put it this way: modern 4th gen multirole fighters such as Su-30/35, Rafale, F-15/16/18… are more than capable of successfully countering each others… They are very comparable machines, so it would come down to following factors: 1) pilots training; 2) tactics; 3) numbers; 4) support (AWACS and ground radars) 5) and ofcourse, good old luck…
